During the first year, students participate in laboratory rotations and?courses?that provide the student with a broad-based education in biochemistry, cell biology and molecular biology. Students select a mentor who supervises their graduate training. They also take courses in the principles of cellular and molecular neuroscience, neuropharmacology, neuroanatomy, nervous system disorders, and statistics, plus a variety of electives. Original laboratory research, literature studies and seminar presentations are essential components of the program
