The Classics Program, offered through the department of languages, literatures and cultures, allows concentration in Greek or Latin languages or classical studies. The program offers courses in Greek and Latin, courses in translation and courses in the departments of art history, comparative literature, history, philosophy and religious studies.

The following courses fulfill some of the requirements for a classics major:

• Latin Concentration: 18 hours in Latin courses level 300 or above and six hours in Greek courses level 300 or above
• Greek Concentration: 18 hours in Greek courses level 300 or above and six hours in Latin courses level 300 or above
• Classical Studies Concentration:
  • Six hours from Greek or Latin courses level 300 or above
  • Classical Mythology
  • Greek and Latin Literature in Translation or Great Books of the Western World I
  • Three hours from Greek History and Civilization to 146 B.C.; the History of Rome, 753-27 B.C.; or the Roman Empire, 27 B.C.-480 A.D.
  • Six hours of Program Electives
