Course Information

Course Description

IIIT Pune BTech Admissions 2024 registrations are going on. IIIT Pune BTech Admissions 2023 are based on the JEE Main scores followed by JoSAA counseling. JoSAA has released 1-6 rounds of cutoff 2023 and seat allotment for IIIT Pune BTech programs. 2 more special rounds of seat allotments will be released by CSAB. The CSAB- Special Round-I has been announced on August 08. Special Round II seat allotments will be declared on August 13.

JEE Mains registration period will begin on November 1, 2023, and will end on November 30, 2023. Furthermore, IIIT Pune BTech 2024 admissions will be based on JEE Mains 2024. JEE Mains is expected to take place in two phases, i.e., in January and April. JEE Mains 2024 first attempt exam date is scheduled for the last week of January 2024 (tentative).

IIIT Pune BTech Eligibility Criteria

Students must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with an aggregate of 60% in the PCM stream.
Students must be passed from well-recognized board.
For SC/ST students the aggregate mark is 50% in their class 12th examination.
Students must clear the cut-off of the entrance exams.

IIIT Pune BTech Admission 2023

Selection to the B.Tech program is based on the ranks secured by the candidates in the JEE Main entrance examination followed by the JoSAA counseling process. After all the rounds of JoSAA (rounds 1-6) are out, CSAB counseling takes place. CSAB releases 2 special rounds of seat allotment for IIIT Pune BTech admissions 2023.
Admission is based on the student's JEE rank.

How to apply at IIIT Pune?

IIITP accepts applications exclusively online. The JEE Main website is where interested candidates must go to complete the online application. To be enrolled for seat allocation, students who receive a valid JEE Main rank must visit the JoSAA website. At the time of registration, individuals must also select IIIT Pune as their first choice. Following document verificaenrolland payment of the requisite fees, candidates assigned to IIIT Pune are permitted to enrol.

The steps to fill the application form are as follows:

First, go the the official website of IIIT Pune.
Applicants need to download the Ph.D. form along with the brochure.
Eligible applicants are required to submit the scanned copy of completely filled application along with the required documents to academics@iiitp.ac.in
Applicants are required to pay the application fee, which non-refundable.

IIIT Pune BTech Course Details

Curriculum:

The curriculum focuses on training the students in problem-solving, critical thinking, and innovation. In upcoming years students also become familiar with core knowledge such as programming, algorithms, data structure, etc. The whole program is designed in such a way that students can go hand in hand with the latest trend.

Computer Science and Engineering

Students have a total of 19 and 22 credits in the first and second semesters respectively.
Students are given a strong foundation in CSE that includes electronics and hardware, problem-solving, critical thinking, etc. Computer science courses are introduced in the early semesters.
IT Workshops are specially designed courses meant to impart mastery in the use of the latest software technologies by the third semester
In the second year they have total of 21 and 23 credits in the third and fourth semesters respectively.
In the third year students have total of 22 and 24 credits for the fifth and sixth eighthters respectively
In the fourth year students have a total of 19 and 16 credits for the seventh and eight semesters respectively

Electronics and Communication Engineering

ECE courses like electronics, NFirst-yearis, logic design, and embedded systems are introduced in the early semesters.
In first year students have a total of 19 and 22 credits for the first and second semesters respectively.
In the second year students have total of 21 and 23 credits for the third and fourth semesters respectively.
Electronics Workshops are specially designed courses intended to give students hands-on experience in electronic circuit design in the third and fourth semesters.
In the third year students have a total of 23 and 13 credits for the fifth and sixth semesters respectively.
Advanced courses and electives in later years enable students to specialize in cthe ommunications, signal proca essingof , robotics, VLSI, embethe dded systemeighthd semestersreams.
In fourth year students have total 19 and 16 credits for seventh and eight semester respectively.

The syllabus for BTech CSE includes subjects like, Data Structure, Digital Logic Design, Computer Networks, AI, IoT, etc., which also includes subjects like Humanity, Entrepreneurship, and Environmental studies. For ECE the subjects are VLSI, Basic Electronics, Signals and systems, Microelectronics, Microwave antenna, Embedded systems, etc.

The ongoing process and overall development of IIIT Pune and IIIT Nagpur are considered to be averagely graded, according to the present conditions of the institute. Some of my friends are pursuing their studies at IIIT Pune and IIIT Nagpur. I will try to give an insight below about the institutes, based on what I heard from them. According to placement reports of IIIT Pune and IIIT Nagpur, the level of the institutes is close to NITs, if not inferior. As with NITs, they have low academic freedom, a decent undergraduate program with good placements, and almost no scope for research-based works. There are reports of IIIT Pune rejecting applications to recruit professors with Ph.D. from IIT Bombay or IISc, even without interviewing them. The reason stated for the rejection was the candidates did not have an engineering undergraduate degree, but a mathematics Hons. The institute did not consider excellent research works as important, even from places like IISc and IIT Bombay. On rejecting candidates with good profiles, the institute selects candidates as professors from Ph.D. in NITs, Nirma University, etc. IIIT Nagpur also has similar records of meaningless decisions. Thus, there are several irregularities in IIIT Pune and IIIT Nagpur which states that the two institutes are on average condition at present times.

I have a friend at IIIT Pune. I only heard good things about the institute from him. Here are some facts about IT at PICT and CSE at IIIT-Pune, which may help you to decide. Teachers: All of the faculties of IIIT-Pune are Ph.D. holders from institutes like IIT KGP, NITs, and foreign universities. Most of the faculties of PICT are M.Tech or still pursuing their PhDs. Crowd: Instead of going home during vacations, students attend Android and Web development workshops. Faculties encourage students to take up projects and internships from the first semester. Degree: Students get B.Tech in IIIT-Pune as compared to a B.E. at PICT. IIIT-Pune's curriculum doesn't include subjects like Civil, Engineering Drawing, Mechanics, Mechanical, Chemistry which are of no use in the course of CSE. Institute of National Importance: IIIT-Pune is like all the IITs, NITs, IIITs which is an Institute of National Importance( INI) which leads to a lot of Government funds and monetary support. Students who did their 12th from the MP board or others can receive a full tuition fee waiver for 4 years of their B. Tech since IIIT Pune is an INI. Sports and Clubs: Any student can start a club of their own if they have a passion for something at IIIT-Pune. IIIT- Pune bagged 5 medals in IIT- BHU’s Annual Sports Fest Spardha and continues to receive honors in other sports events as well. Attendance and Holidays: PICT has minimum attendance criteria of 75% and PICT imposes an 80% attendance. PICT has 9 days winter break and 15 days summer break, so if you are not a local then you will not get to see much of your family. At IIIT-Pune students get 1 month of Winter Break and about 2.5 months of Summer Break. Exposure and Brand: IIIT-Pune students usually go for two industrial visits to Infosys and Tech Mahindra. IIIT is a brand as there are a total of 23 IIITs in India and are recognized throughout the country and overseas. IIIT-Pune also has inter-IIT sports and technical fests every year where all the IIITs across the country take part.
