IMU CET results have been declared on June 19, and the counselling will be conducted from June 21 – 26, 2023. The first allotment list will be released on June 30, 2023. Candidates can download the result pdf from the official website https://www.imu.edu.in/. 


Established in 2008, Indian Maritime University (IMU), Visakhapatnam is a teaching-cum-affiliating university which works under the guidance of the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India with Chennai as headquarters. At present, IMU Vizag offers B.Tech in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at the undergraduate level and M.Tech, MBA at the postgraduate level. B.Tech course is of 4 years duration with an intake capacity of 40 students and M.Tech is of 2 years duration with an intake of 20 seats in each stream. In addition, the institute campus also offers lateral entry in 2nd and 3rd year of B.Tech (Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering) with an intake capacity of 5 and 20 seats, respectively.

  • Applicants can register through online mode for admission to courses offered by IMU, Vizag.
  • Candidates seeking admission to B.Tech should have passed 10+2 with minimum 60% marks in PCM and 50% marks in English.
  • For 2nd year lateral entry, candidates should have completed 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Civil Engineering.
  • For 3rd year lateral entry, candidates should have completed B.Sc in Ship-building and Repair with at least 60% marks overall.
  • For admission to M.Tech, the candidate must have completed graduation in Mechanical/Civil/ Marine/Naval Architecture or any equivalent with minimum 60% marks.
  • There will be a relaxation of 5% in the minimum required marks for the candidates belonging to SC/ST category.
  • Admissions to B.Tech and M.Tech will be based on the performance of the online Common Entrance Test (CET).
  • Admission to the courses will be made through merit based on aggregate percentage of marks.

Indian Maritime University (IMU), Vizag B.Tech Admission 2023

Indian Maritime University, Visakhapatnam offers B.Tech in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering with an intake of 40 seats. The basic eligibility to apply for this course is the candidates should have passed 10+2 or any equivalent examination with minimum 60% aggregate in PCM subjects and 50% in English subject.

  • Selection of candidates is done on the basis of online Common Entrance Test (CET), conducted by the institute.
  • In case of SC/ST candidates, there will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks (except individual marks in English).
  • The CET will comprise of 200 multiple choice questions from English, General Aptitude, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics at 10+2 level.

Candidates already shortlisted on the basis of CET scores will be required to register themselves for Online Counseling for the allotment of seats in the concerned program of IMU. Candidates will be required to submit INR 10000 (Non- refundable) to register for the online IMU counselling. Candidates must carry their original documents at the time of counselling for the verification of original mark sheets, certificates etc.

In addition to it, the college also offers direct lateral entry in the 2nd and 3rd year of B.Tech on the basis of marks obtained in the common entrance test. The admissions will be made in the order of merit based on aggregate percentage of marks.

For admission into 2nd year of B.Tech, candidate should have a 4-year Diploma in Shipbuilding Engineering with at least 60% marks overall from Institute of Shipbuilding Technology (ISBT), Goa OR 3-year Diploma in Mechanical / Civil Engineering / Marine Engineering with at least 60% marks overall from any institute approved by AICTE OR 3-year Diploma in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering from the AMET University, Chennai with at least 60% marks overall. Minimum age of the candidate should be 18 years with the upper age limit of 26 years.

For admission to 3rd year of B.Tech, candidates should have completed B.Sc (Ship-building and Repair) with at least 60% marks overall and have completed the degree within the stipulated period of 3 years. The lower and upper age limits for 3rd year lateral entry is 19 and 27 years, respectively.

Indian Maritime University (IMU), Vizag M.Tech, MBA Admission 2023

Indian Maritime University, Visakhapatnam offers Master of Technology (M.Tech) in 2 specializations namely Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering and Dredging and Harbor Engineering. The basic eligibility to apply for M.Tech is the candidate should be an engineering graduate in Mechanical/ Civil/ Marine/ Naval Architecture/ or any equivalent with at least 60% aggregate in marks. For SC/ST candidates, there will be a relaxation of 5% in the eligibility marks. Admission will be done on the basis of online Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by IMU.

IMU CET Syllabus for M.Tech (Marine Technology and Management), M.Tech (Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering) and M.Tech (Dredging and Harbour Engineering) programme:

  • No. of Questions – 120 multiple choice questions.
  • Syllabus – English, Mathematics and one of Mechanical Engineering/Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering/Civil Engineering

Applicants can register online for IMU CET and upload scanned copy of required documents and photographs along with submission of registration fees through the available online payment modes.

IMU also offers MBA in International Transportation and Logistics Management with an intake capacity of 20 students. For admission to MBA, candidates must have passed bachelors degree in any discipline with minimum 50% aggregate in marks. To get admission, students need to appear in Common Entrance Test (CET) which is conducted by the university.

IMU CET Syllabus for MBA (International Transportation and Logistics), MBA (Port and Shipping Management) programmes:

  • No. of Questions – 120 multiple choice questions.
  • Syllabus - Quantitative ability, Data interpretation, Verbal ability and Logical reasoning

IMU Vizag Registration 2023

Candidates need to register for IMU CET online through the official registration portal available at the university website for admission to various UG and PG programmes offered by IMU and its affiliated institutes Application fee has to be submitted online through net-banking, credit/debit card. It is non-refundable

  • For all UG and PG programmes (except BBA), the application fee for GEN/OBC candidates is INR 1000 (INR 700 in case of SC/ST candidates). 

Steps for filling IMU CET Online Application form:

  • After the 'Basic Registration' i.e. once the candidate clicks on 'Submit' button in the Basic Registration Page, the system will generate the Application Number and send it to the candidate by Email and SMS.
  • For subsequent logins, the candidate should use this system-generated Application Number as 'Login ID' and his/her Date of Birth as the 'Password'
  • In the 'Detailed Registration' section, students will have to fill up additional details such as Address for Correspondence, Educational Details, Preferred Choice of Exam Cities, etc. followed by uploading of relevant scanned documents and payment of CET Registration Fees
  • Upon successful online payment of Registration Fee, a receipt will be generated and student should take a print out of it for future correspondence
  • Candidate should note that the Service Charges / Payment Gateway Charges for making the Online Payment Transaction are to be borne by the candidate only.
  • If the Class 12/UG Degree Exam results are awaited at the time of Online Registration, the candidate may choose the 'Awaiting Results' option.

Candidates shall upload the following documents at the time of submitting the Online Application Form:

  1. Scanned copy of the passport size photograph. 
  2. Scanned copy of the signature of the candidate.
  3. Scanned copy of 10th Standard Mark Sheet or equivalent in support of Date of Birth
  4. Scanned copy of 12th Standard Mark Sheet (wherever applicable).
  5. Scanned copy of UG Degree Certificate (wherever applicable).
  6. Community Certificate in respect of SC/ST/OBC (NCL) candidates

Notes: 

  • Candidates need not submit any hard copy of the application to IMU.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be required to register for Online Counselling for allotment of seats followed by verification of original mark sheets and certificates, physical fitness certificate, etc.
  • Candidates will be required to pay INR 10,000 (Non-refundable) in order to register for the Online Counselling of IMU
