The University offers undergraduate double major (integrated) law programmes, namely BA.LLB and B.Com LLB. In accordance with the functioning of all National Law Schools in the country, the selection process consists of marks secured in the Common Law Aptitude Test (CLAT). Merit list is prepared based on the performance in the examination, following the merit-cum-preference system for CLAT candidates across the country.
The details of the CLAT examination are as follows:
- The test consists of a 200 mark multiple choice question paper, for a duration of 2 hours.
- One mark is awarded for every correct answer.
- 0.25 mark is deducted for every incorrect answer.
The paper is divided into five sections - English with comprehension accounts for 40 marks, General Knowledge and Current Affairs accounts for 50 marks, Numerical Ability for 20 marks, Legal Aptitude for 50 marks, and Logical Reasoning for 40 marks.

For admission to Tamil Nadu National Law School, candidates must apply and register themselves for the CLAT examination. While registering, candidates must enter Tamil Nadu National Law School under their preferences in order to be considered for admission.
- The minimum required eligibility to apply for these programmes is a pass at the 10+2 level with a minimum of 45% marks, and a valid CLAT score.
- The upper age limit is 20 years for unreserved categories, and 22 years for reserved categories.
- Once selected, candidates must provide all relevant documents for verification, and pay the required amount of fees as stipulated by the university.
