Kalyani University provides Master’s in Business Administration at postgraduate level across 4 specializations. The course is offered as a full time regular course under the Faculty of Engineering Technology and Management. Application forms for the same are released online every year. Candidates can apply by filling the application form online.

The MBA course is spread across 4 semesters.
Basic eligibility is a bachelor's degree in relevant discipline.
Selection to the course is based on entrance scores followed by GD & PI.
Seats are reserved as per university norms.

Kalyani University, Nadia MBA Eligibility Criteria

Candidates interested in the MBA program of Kalyani University must satisfy the below mentioned eligibility criteriAns.

Candidates must graduate in Science/ Arts/ Commerce streams from a recognized university or institute with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
Graduates in Management/ Engineering or Five years Law streams are also eligible to apply for the program.
Candidates must also appear for and qualify any of the CAT/ MAT/ CMAT/ JEMAT entrance exams.
Candidates in the final year of their qualifying degree may also apply.

Kalyani University, Nadia MBA Admission Guidelines

Admissions to the MBA program of Kalyani University are done on the basis of state level or national level entrance exam scores followed by group discussion and personal interview.

Foreign candidates are exempted from any Common Entrance Test. Admissions to them are provided on the basis of GD and PI only.
A total of 27 seats are available for the program among which 17 seats belong to General Category, 6 to SC, 2 to ST, 1 to OBC A and the remaining 1 to OBC B respectively.

Candidates can apply both offline and online. Below mentioned are the steps to be followed:

Read all the instructions carefully and click on “Continue”.
Choose the desired course and specialization.
Click on the Application Form tab and fill the form correctly with academic and personal details.
Upload the required documents.
Proceed to pay the required fees and submit the application form.
In case of offline form submission, candidates can download the application form from official institute website and submit the duly filled application form with a DD of INR 300 drawn in favour of “University of Kalyani”, payable at Kalyani to the following address via speed post/ registered post:

Duration: MBA course is spread across 4 academic semesters. 1st and 3rd semesters are odd semesters whereas 2nd and 4th are even semesters.

Attendance: Students are required to maintain at least 75% attendance in each semester by attending the theoretical and practical classes separately during each semester in order to become eligible for appearing in final semester examinations. Students below 75% attendance will not be considered eligible for promotion to next semester of the program.

Evaluation: The evaluation scheme for MBA course contains two parts:

The 70:30 ratio is the prescribed evaluation weightage. Students are required to maintain a minimum aggregate of 40% in each semester or an equivalent CGPA of 5.00. Total marks for the two years program is 3200 and 128 credits.

Examinations: The university conducts mid term and end term examinations. Additionally, practical examinations and project viva-voce are also conducted as a part of external examinations. Duration of end semester examinations of theoretical papers up to 30 marks shall be one hour, up to 60 marks two hours and above 60 marks three hours. The duration for the practical examinations up to 50 marks/ points shall be three hours and up to 100 marks/ points five hours. There will be no retest if a student misses internal assessments such as a class test during an ongoing semester. Students who fail in any semester examination may reappear for the same examination only twice in the subsequent period.

Grading: The detailed grade information for MBA is as follows:

CGPA of 8.0 & above up to 10.0 = 1st Class with Distinction
CGPA of 6.5 & less than 8.0 = 1st Class
CGPA of 5.5 & less than 6.5 = 2nd Class
CGPA of 5.0 & less than 5.5 = Pass Class

It all depends upon your preference as the infrastructure, faculty members differ from department to department. One of my friends, who pursued his M.Sc in Chemistry from KU, told me that it’s really good. The faculty members are very kind, helpful, and amiable. They are always ready to assist you in any query. Moreover, the building is old but it consists of sufficient equipment and better infrastructure. Kalyani University is the largest state university in West Bengal. Here, you will experience the lush green campus where you can freely roam around. The central library is big and well-equipped with textbooks, journals, and reference books. Student life here is also very good. The teacher and student interaction are quite healthy. Overall, Kalyani University is a good university and I would suggest you go for it if you are thinking of taking admission to it.

After doing some research online about these institutions, with my limited knowledge of JGEC & KGEC, I am writing this response. Given that they are government colleges, both are great institutes to begin your career. They never promote or market themselves in the way that other institutions might (Return on investment involved). Although JGEC is underestimated because it is located in North Bengal, it does not receive the same level of exposure as KGEC or BWD university. KGEC is known for its technology/IT courses, while JGEC excels in the core departments. TCS is a regular for KGEC in terms of recruitment, whilst CTS favors JGEC. Kalyani University is a very popular institution and pursuing an engineering degree from this university has its own pros and cons. Some of my friends studied there and here are the things I got to know from them. Pros This institution is owned and run by the government. The complete fees for your 4 years of graduation is less compared to other private colleges. The faculty of this college is very good and all other staff members such as lab assistant, office staff, canteen staff are very helpful. The university also hires some external professors having years of industry experience to teach and guide the students. This gets them accustomed to the corporate culture. The total number of students in this department is less so you will always have the chance to interact with your professors. Cons One of the biggest demerits of this university is that it doesn't have a proper placement cell in its campus. Securing a job offer is tough, and you have to take the initiative yourself. The infrastructure of this college is average. The computer lab, electronics lab, instrumentation lab don't have adequate facilities. The campus is located in a remote area. But the transportation facility is okay.
