Course Curriculum Overview:

MBA at IIMC comprises compulsory courses in the first year wherein you are given exposure to a diverse set of fields in management. However, the 2nd-year structure is different wherein an Electives approach is followed. Courses are auctioned and students bid for the courses they wish to enroll in. The faculty: student ratio is around 1:5. Faculty is highly qualified. We have professors who have been IAS officers and served in the Indian Defense as well, just to highlight some diversity. A fixed schedule is shared at the beginning of the term and exams are conducted every 5 weeks to keep the learnings afloat. There are quizzes, class participation marks, and several projects which are a part of the evaluation criteria.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course to develop business acumen and the better job offers that come with the IIM brand Being in a classroom of 80, so far I've had 20+ professors take classes in the span of one year. So, decent ratio. Teaching is case-based a lot of the time. Otherwise, it is lecture-based, sometimes with graded class participation Faculty are well qualified, well spoken, mostly PhDs Term exams are easy to pass with minimal effort

Ques
What CAT percentile do I require to get calls from IIM Blackis, FMS, SP Jain, JBIMS and MDI Gurgaon?

● Top Answer By Anuraag Das on 14 Apr 23

Ans
For GEM, the CAT percentiles required to get an interview call from IIM Blackis, FMS, SP Jain, JBIMS, and MDI Gurgaon are  ABC and FMS: Both institutes required nothing less than 99.5. Those who get admission at a lesser percentile, usually don’t belong to the GEM category. There are many who don’t even get a call with 99.3. So to stay on the safer side, go for nothing less than 99.5. IIM Indore and Kozhikode: Both the institutes require percentiles around 97.5 for an interview call SPJIMR: This Institute has unique selection criteria under which CAT is given less value and calls are issued on the basis of the candidate's profile. The CAT percentile required in this case is less than the normal if you have a good academic profile along with work experience, MDI: This institute issues calls around the 96% mark. It’s important to know that these figures are based on trends and not on actual data so you will find exceptions everywhere. Moreover, it’s better you don’t waste time analyzing the CAT cutoff and start preparing for the same.

Ques
What is the percentile that will ensure a call from IIM Calcutta, Lucknow, Bangalore, and Ahmadabad having 83% in 10th, 83% in 12th and a 6.9 CPGA in graduation, till now having no work experience?

● Top Answer By Arshit Jain on 17 Nov 22

Ans
If you have a good 10th and 12th-grade point average but a gradual decrease in graduation, it will undoubtedly affect your admission if you do not have work experience. Attempt to improve your CAT percentile. Having a round 99.86+ percentile, you may receive a call from both the new and old IIMs.

Ques
How much does the Work experience, test score, other factors matter for admission in PGDBA course hosted by universities IIT Kgp, IIM C , ISI Kolkata?

● Top Answer By Senjuti Gupta on 08 Jul 22

Ans
These colleges don’t reveal the separate weightage break-up for work experience, test scores, and other such factors. For the final shortlist, institutes such as IIT KGP, IIM C, and ISI Kolkata take these factors into consideration along with your performance in the interview. These institutes assign a good volume of weightage to the entrance examination score. So, try to improve your test score as much as possible.

Ques
Got admits from IIMA PGPX, IIM Bangalore EPGP, and IIM Calcutta PGPEX. Which one should I go for (I'm really confused about the placements, no clarity whatsoever)?

● Top Answer By Dhruv Sharma on 15 Nov 22

Ans
Your selection should be based on your profile, such as your work experience, industry, and, most importantly, what you hope to gain from the program. If you have 4-5 years of work experience, you can look at EPGP because they have gone through ISB and have capped the work experience of the candidates they accept. The age range for IIMA is 5-20 years, so the learning will be unparalleled in terms of class discussions and peer group learning. If I recall correctly, IIM Calcutta has a lower batch strength, and the batch is slightly on the higher side of work experience. Placements are good at all institutes, and your previous industry experience is important. This is something you cannot change and should accept, but you can look at how candidates in that sector have performed over time. In terms of learning, you'll not find the variety you'll find at PGPX anywhere else. Make contact with both alumni and current students. Make an informed decision based on your motivation for enrolling in the program.

Ques
Why did you choose IIM Bangalore over IIM Calcutta?

● Top Answer By Abhishek Yadav on 07 Mar 23

Ans
Both IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta are excellent B Schools that give an edge to each other in almost every aspect. If ever you see someone choosing one over the other then it’s only because of his/her personal preference because they both are not lacking in any terms. Yet if I had to name a few USPs of IIM Bangalore that make it a more coveted IIM than Calcutta, here are a few Being located in the IT Capital of India, Bangalore offers a locational advantage to a great extent The corporate scenario is much better at Bangalore than Calcutta The highlight is its Entrepreneurial culture delivered by NSRCEL which is IIM Bangalore's flagship business incubator. It is a non-profit institution purely assisting creators and funding startups in their journey. Better internship and placement opportunities are offered here at IIM Bangalore than at Calcutta IIM Bangalore Placement statistics Particulars  Statistics  Number of Companies Participated 137 Number of Offers 662 No. of students 524 Average package INR 33.82 LPA Median package INR 31.20 LPA Top Sector Management Consulting (42%)

Ques
Is it possible to reschedule an Interview at IIM, Bangalore or IIM, Calcutta?

● Top Answer By Vidushi Sharma on 26 Jul 22

Ans
Yes, it is possible to reschedule an interview at IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta or any other IIM. If you can’t attend the interview, for some reason, you can write a mail and request them to give you another interview slot. You should explain the reason and attach proof with the mail. For example, if your semester examination dates are clashing with the interview date, you should attach the examination schedule with the mail.  For valid reasons, they agree to reschedule.

Ques
How was your IIM C/IIT Kharagpur/ISI Kolkata PGDBA interview experience?

● Top Answer By Aditi Roy on 30 Mar 23

Ans
One of my friends had the absolute delight to appear for the PGDBA interview conducted by a multifaceted panel. He shared his interview experience which might help you a bit. Before the interview began, he was taken for a Verification Round wherein, every detail of academics scores or other profile-related information was cross-checked on the IIMs format. Once they received an IIM-verified document they were escorted to the interview venue. The interview room had 3 panels; one from each institute obviously. They asked for his brief introduction first. On hearing about his interest in Data Analytics, panelists probed him further with questions like What is Data Analytics Difference between analytics and analysis Contemporary Data analytics and ML They further asked him why he chose Analytics. He told them that the increasing demand for the same in Europe and China made him realize how much India lacks in this aspect and thus he wanted to invest his efforts in Data Analytics. Next, he was tested on his knowledge of Statistics and Mathematics with questions like  Difference between mean, mode, Media Skewness Relationship of mean, mode, and median in a positive Skew graph Hypothesis Testing What is Anova The next panelist took the reins and gave him a problem from SPC quality control. He asked him how do you know that his process in electric bulb making is as per customer Norma and is statistically controlled. My friend was able to answer most of the questions confidently and even solved this problem through charts.  Lastly, he was asked about his extracurricular activities and hobbies. The discussion ended with him asking about GST and the difference between GST and previous tax. Even though he gave a common answer, he managed to convert the interview.

Ques
How is SPJIMR's placement report better than IIMs including IIM Calcutta and as good as IIM Ahmedabad (both Average and Median)?

● Top Answer By Debasmita Dey on 15 Nov 22

Ans
This year's average annual salary of SPJMIR (cost-to-company) is INR 32.05 lakhs per annum, representing a 23% increase over last year's figure. The median annual salary was INR 30.10 lakhs per year, with over 59 percent of the batch receiving offers in excess of INR 30 lakhs per year and over 87 percent receiving offers in excess of INR 25 lakhs per year. With the increasing intake of consulting firms, offers were extended to 91 students, the highest number ever reported by SPJIMR for a batch. Accenture Strategy, Alvarez & Marsal, Bain & Co., Boston Consulting Group, Deloitte, GEP, KPMG, Miebach, and PwC US Advisory were among the companies that took part. According to the Indian Placements Reporting Standards (IPRS) audited report of IIM Ahmedabad placements 2021, the average salary offered to the PGP/MBA batch 2019-21 was INR 27.54 lakh per annum. The highest annual salary offered was INR 55.00 lakh, while the highest international salary offer was INR 1.16 crore. The average annual international salary offer was INR 74.80 lakh.  Every year, SPJIMR includes some additional component in addition to the MEP (MEP already includes non-cash, long-term, and performance-linked components as per IPRS standards), whereas IIMA does not. Yes, SPJIMR benefits from NO reservation, a Mumbai location, and a smaller batch size, all of which contribute to a good placement record and a high average salary.

Ques
I have scored above 90 in class 10th but I got 79.5 % in class 12th. My college record is decent. Do I stand a good chance at IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore or IIM Calcutta?

● Top Answer By Gaurav Sinha on 06 Aug 22

Ans
If your CAT score is above 99.90 percentile, you will have a decent chance of getting an interview call from IIM Calcutta.  IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore assign good weight to past academic records for the interview shortlist. You need to have a consistently good record throughout your 10th, 12th, and graduation to get a call from IIMA and B. Having relevant work experience of a minimum of 2 years is also important if you are targeting IIMB.
