Tamil Nadu Agricultural University - [TNAU]: 9 answered questions

Ques
Which is better for food technology TNAU or TANUVAS?

● Top Answer By Niyati Pathak on 14 Sept 21

Ans
Both TNAU and TANUVAS are relatively similar institutions because they are state-run universities. There is no major difference between the two universities in terms of their infrastructure and faculty members. However, when compared on higher levels, then TNAU can be considered slightly better than TANUVAS, regardless of their resemblance in academic profiles.  Categories Food Technology at TNAU Course Fee 4.64 lakhs Course Duration 4 years Average CTC 10-12 LPA Recruiting Companies Cadbury, ITC, Yara, Zifo Technologies, etc. Having said that, it is always a better idea to try for other institutes like CFTRI, IIFPT, or NIFTEM for receiving better exposure, alongside a greater knowledge base.

Ques
What is the minimum cutoff to join tnau?

● Top Answer By Shreyashi Roy Chowdhury on 06 Oct 21

Ans
As per the recent cutoff trends, a cut-off of about 190 and above is best to get shortlisted for a B.Sc Agri course at TNAU.  If not, there are different other courses, with a somewhat similar backdrop, like horticulture, forestry, home science, food science, agribusiness management, and more, that require a relatively lower cutoff, as opposed to Agricultural Sciences. Also, there are various other colleges affiliated under TNAU with required cutoffs lower than the former.

Ans
According to the recent trends, the required 12th cutoff for TNAU Coimbatore is around 185+. The cutoff varies each year based on the number of applicants and previous years' cutoff.  For Tamil Nadu students, the counseling is based on the marks obtained in Biology, Physics, and Chemistry in 10+2. For other state students the admission is done through ICAR - UG entrance examination results.

Ques
Is TNAU a good university?

● Top Answer By Raghu Sharma on 06 Oct 21

Ans
TNAU is a top-rated agricultural university and it is the oldest institute established. Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) was rated amongst the top 3, followed directly by Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Pusa, New Delhi, and Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, Punjab. The main campus of TNAU is located in AC&RI, TNAU, Coimbatore. I have a few friends from TNAU and according to them, TNAU is a university worth studying at. The classes at the institute are usually held between 7.30 P.M to 5.30 P.M. Most essentially, the exposure at the university is largely diversified as well.

Ques
What cutoff mark Tamil Nadu board should I get to opt for a BSc in agriculture at TNAU Coimbatore?

● Top Answer By Manisha Jeeva on 14 Oct 21

Ans
Getting a seat in B.Sc. in Agriculture at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) is like getting a medical seat in a top university. This is due to the value and demand for agriculture seats increasing. Having a few friends studying in TNAU Coimbatore here are a few things they mentioned.  After graduation, students opt for the banking sector or appear for the UPSC exams.  Nearly 25% of students appearing for higher administrative examinations conducted by UPSC like IAS, IPS are from the agriculture stream. In 2020, the cut-off was around 199.5 for the general and MBC categories.  Since the preference for agriculture courses among students is increasing, this year the cut-off mark is expected to go high between 175 to 199 out of 200. The cut-off marks also depend upon communal reservation, ICAR quota, NRI, and industrial quota, in 7 colleges that are directly attached and managed by TNAU. In addition to these nearly 26 private agriculture colleges are there in Tamil Nadu, affiliated with TNAU, here students can get seats through counseling by TNAU and management quota where cut-off marks will not form a major role.

You should choose a BS in Agribusiness Management at TNAU. It offers great career prospects in the field of Agriculture. TNAU placements of recent years have witnessed an average CTC of INR 4.5 LPA. Ques
What is the cutoff mark to join TNAU?

● Top Answer By Jiya Patnayak on 06 Oct 21

Ans
The cut-off you require mostly depends upon the course you are intending to pursue, your community (presuming your home state is Tamil Nadu itself) or ICAR exam score, and category. On a general note, usually securing an average of about 190 or more will supposedly keep you on the safer side to help obtain admission in any course of the institute. For more information about the UG course, you can follow the official website.

Ques
How is the college life at TNAU?

● Top Answer By Sreeparna Bose on 14 Oct 21

Ans
Having known the alumni at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) here are a few things I got to know from them that might answer your question. The campus is 1000 acres which provide a calm environment for the students.  For UG students, TNAU will structure the students' life by maintaining discipline.  The Field visit is usually by morning 7.30 AM and the theory classes will be held from 9 AM-5 PM.  The faculty members are very helpful and friendly, they often share their experiences also. For those who stay in the hostel, it gives you another world of experience.  Apart from all this, UG students of the final year are taken on an India tour. It will be around important institutes and monuments, for about 20 days this will be an experience of joy and learning.
