Gandhigram Rural Institute (GRI), Dindigul offers Ph.D. in 27 disciplines in total in various fields of arts and science. The institute education system is designed in order to promote rural development and hence, education in the rural area.
Admissions to the Ph.D. program at GRI are conducted twice in a year, first announcement comes in the month of January while the other one comes in August. Admission to the institute are made on the basis of entrance test conducted by the institute. Admission are open to all Indian and foreign students satisfying the eligibility criteria.
Ph.D. program at GRI is offered in two modes: Full-time and part-time. Candidates applying for part-time Ph.D. program should have a minimum of 5 years of experience at the time of registration. Check GRI Admission

Candidates (Indian / Foreigner) who have studied under 10+2+3+2 years pattern or Equivalent and qualified for the award of the Master’s Degree in relevant discipline by any university recognized by the UGC in relevant discipline with not less than 55% marks (50% for SC/ST and part-time non-teacher candidates) or an equivalent grade are eligible.
In addition, he / she should have qualified the entrance test conducted by GRI OR should have obtained M.Phil. or qualified the UGC - JRF / NET / SLET / lecturer-ship / GATE / CSIR / ICAR / ICSSR or other fellowships or passed equivalent examinations
Admissions to the Ph.D. program at GRI are made on the basis of an entrance test conducted by the institute. Candidates shortlisted from the entrance test will be called for an interview.
