So, your final weightage should be above 75%. Other than your entrance test result, your 10+2 marks also play an important role. As OUAT assigns 25% weightage to both your 10th and 12th marks, while the entrance score carries 50% weightage.
According to the recent trends, the required cutoff for BSc in Agricultural Science at OUAT is around 68 (Gen category). So, you will need to score around 115 out of 200, to get shortlisted for BSc Agricultural Science. You should also keep in mind that an above-average score in the entrance is not enough for admission at OUAT. They also consider your 10th and 12th scores.
The OUAT entrance questions mostly come from NCERT books. Especially for the Biology and Chemistry section. So, cover all the topics from NCERT Biology and Chemistry. Along with that solve the previous year’s questions. Also, you can buy an OUAT entrance guide. You should make a habit of solving 200 MCQs within 2 hours to prepare for OUAT.
At OUAT, few seats are reserved as free seats and few are reserved as cost-sharing seats. For free seats, the fees are less. For cost-sharing seats, you will need to pay the additional cost for that seat. For cost-sharing fees, you will need to pay your readmission fees every year. So, students getting admission in cost-sharing fees, need to pay more fees compared to the ones with free seats. The admission to these seats is based entirely on merit.
OUAT is not a college, it is a university. It has many colleges affiliated with it. So, the placement opportunities vary from one institution to another. For Agricultural courses, like BSc AG, MSc AG, and AG Tech there are good placement opportunities. Foresty Colleges also offer good placements.
However, for self-finance courses like MCA, Agri-Business Management, Bio-Informatics in OUAT, you may have to struggle a bit to get placements.
OUAT (Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology) is a Technical University. Anybody interested in research in any discipline can go for a master degree in their area of interest.
There is huge scope for Research leading to PhD in OUAT in all departments of Agriculture, Veterinary, Fishery, Forestry, Agricultural Engineering, etc. Among all the branches OUAT is popular for B.Sc. Agriculture and Bachelors in Veterinary Science.
The 3 things that OUAT deals with are research, education and extension. To get into the research section you have to complete your graduation followed by your post graduation. After that you can apply for ARS or continue doing PhD and can apply for university vacancy.
You can get some advice from the seniors and even visit the college and see the ambience and their functioning for yourself. Research is a field that requires a lot of patience and perseverance, so choose after knowing every aspect of it.
That depends entirely on the candidate. It is recommended that you prepare for your 12th exam along with other entrance exams. Try joining coaching centres that will properly guide you with subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology.
Because it is not justified to take coaching only for getting into OUAT, as to qualify you will require to be thorough with your concepts, quantitative aptitude and learn about basics of the science subjects.
If you work hard enough, dedicating most of your time in the preparation of the exam, you will be able to sit for any entrance exam and score good marks.
If you are interested in agriculture, there are 2 ways you can join OUAT. One through OUAT entrance exam and 2nd by ICAR entrance exam.
