North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, offers a full-time Ph.D. program of three years in regular mode. North-Eastern Hill University Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates who are willing to apply for the Ph.D. program at North-Eastern Hill University must have passed their Master's Degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution/ university.
• Candidates have at least 55% of marks in their previous education and 50% marks for the reserved category.
• Also, the university reserves 50% of seats for the reserved category (SC/ ST candidates), whereas, 50% of seats for the open category.
• The university admitted foreign candidates through the Central Committee for Admission of Foreign Students, NEHU, as per the Government of India rules and guidelines.

Admission in any of the Ph.D. programs at the North-Eastern Hill University is based on the performance of the candidate's entrance exam followed by the personal interview conducted by the department of the concerned subject arena.

Before filling up the Ph.D. application form, candidates need to prepare a 200 words write-up, which explains their reason as to why they are willing to apply for that particular program and their further intention or plans of study or research in the subject. After writing it, paste the write-up into the box that will be available in the online application form.

Online Admission Application Process:

• To apply online for the Ph.D. program at North-Eastern Hill University, candidates need to visit the official website.
• Click on the admission tab to move further in the process.
• Then, fill in all the requisite information like name, date of birth, previous education, email-ID, etc. (email-ID is pivotal in the entire process, make sure to use an updated one).
• After that, activate the login credentials and select the course of your choice.
• Later on, upload scanned copies of your previous mark sheets, certificates, passport size photo, signature, address proof, and other important documents as per the requirement.
• After filling in the application form, make sure to check it once more for any mistakes.
• For the last step, candidates are requested to pay INR 500 and INR 250 (for SC/ ST category) as an application fee through Debit or Credit Card or Net Banking via HDFC and SBI Bank.
