NMU PhD Admission 2023 is going to begin soon. The admission to the Ph.D. Programme is through an Entrance Test followed by an Interview. The application process is conducted online through the official website of the NMU. Out of total available seats, 50% seats each will be allocated to those who qualify the Entrance Test and 50% seats for those who are exempted from the Entrance Test as mentioned consequently.

NMU offers PhD program in various specializations. For a regular full time programme, it shall ordinarily involve work in University Schools / Departments, Research Institutes / Centres (In colleges or industries) or recognized place of research by North Maharashtra University. Check NMU Admission 2023

NMU Ph.D Eligibility Criteria

You should have a M.Lib degree or should have qualified I.Sc. / NET /SET /JRF examinations.

NMU Ph.D Selection Process

Your selection with be based on the Ph.D. Entrance Test devised and conducted by the University. If you qualify through Entrance Test, shall have to appear for an interview before the committee constituted for the allocation of the Research Guides.

Paper-I would be General Aptitude Test of 100 marks with multiple choice type questions covering logical reasoning, numerical ability, reasoning and language aptitude. You should score 50 % marks and above (45 % marks and above, in case of SC/ST category). You will able to write the Paper 2 only if you qualify this paper.

Paper-II would be Subject Specific test of 100 marks, out of which 20 marks will be allocated to multiple choice objective questions covering relevant subjects in the faculty and 80 marks will be allocated to theoretical descriptive questions in the relevant subject.

Exemptions for Entrance Test:

• You should have qualified in SET/NET/JRF examinations of the apex bodies as CSIR/UGC/ICAR/ ICMR/DBT
• For persons with exceptional abilities and Senior Citizens at the discretion of Vice-Chancellor
• If you have Passed M.Phil., M.E./M.Tech, M.Pharm from statutory University
• For teachers having 5 years regular (unconditional approval) teaching experience at U.G./P.G. level
• For foreign students

NMU Ph.D: How to apply?

You should apply online for admission to the Ph.D. Programme. Even if you are seeking exemption from Entrance Test, you will have to apply online only.

Fill the information carefully. Upload your scanned passport size photo and signature (signed with black ink).

Application Fee: For payment, click on make payment and select appropriate payment. You can pay the following Application fee through online generated challan/online payment gateway:

• Rs. 1000 for general category students
• Rs. 800 for reserved category
• Rs. 5000 for foreign students

Print the hard copy of the submitted online Application Form by clicking Download Application Form.

Enclosures: Attach the following supporting documents along with the hard copy of the online Application Form:

• The challan/transaction slip prescribed Entrance Test fee
• Attested photocopy of the Caste Certificate and Domicile certificate in case of reserved categories.
• Attested photocopy copy of the Medical Certificate issued by Civil Surgeon in case of Physically and Visually Handicapped candidates.
• Attested photocopy of marks-sheet of Master’s Degree or M.Phil. Degree
• Attested photocopies of the Certificate(s) of claiming fulfilling the conditions for the exemption from Entrance Test

Enclose the hard copy of the online Application Form along with the supporting documents as mentioned above and the challan/transaction slip of prescribed fee in an envelope of size 36 cm x 25 cm. Send the Application Form to the following address:

NMU Ph.D Reservation Criteria

Reservation criteria will be as per reservation policy of the government of Maharashtra. However, candidates from other state Universities will not be considered for reservation seats.
