Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University (DBATU) is a state university situated in Raigad district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The university was established by Government of Maharashtra in the year of 1989. The University has a conducted institute of its own, "Institute of Petrochemical Engineering", running Diploma Courses in eight streams of Engineering and Technology.

DBATU University imparts various educational courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level mainly focusing on the area of Core Engineering and Technology.

Admission to the B.Tech courses is done on the basis of obtained score in common entrance examination or JEE Main or equivalent examination recognized by Government of Maharashtra.
Candidates must have a valid score of NATA for admission into B.Arch. course
B.Pharm. and B.Voc. admission is based on merit secured in the qualifying exam.
Admission to the M.Tech programme is done on the basis of merit in GATE and pre-qualifying examination
For M.Pharm., candidates are selected on the basis of GPAT/ GATE score.
The admission of the candidates for Ph. D programme will be on the basis of entrance test followed by an interview

DBATU B.Tech Admission 2023

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University features undergraduate programs in core engineering disciplines. It offers four-year undergraduate programs that lead to the awarding of Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) degree in each of the departments' disciplines. The university also accepts a lateral entry in the B.Tech programme.

Selection Process

Maharashtra State Candidature Candidate : Admission is based on the obtained score in the common entrance examination conducted by the Competent Authority and recognized by the Government of Maharashtra.
All India Candidature Candidates, Jammu and Kashmir Migrant Candidature Candidates : Admission is based on the obtained score in common entrance examination conducted by the Competent Authority and recognized by the Government of Maharashtra or JEE Main or equivalent examination recognized by Government of Maharashtra.

DBATU B.Arch. and B.Pharm. Admission 2023

Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University also offers B.Arch. and B.Pharm. courses at UG level. The minimum eligibility for both the courses is a pass in 10+2 with 50% marks in relevant subjects.

Admission to B.Arch is based on NATA score while admission to B.Pharm is done on the basis of merit secured in the qualifying exam.

DBATU offers B.Voc. course in 5 specializations. The duration of the course is 3-years. Candidates who have passed 10+2 with 50% marks are eligible for admission.

Selection to B.Voc. is based on merit obtained in the qualifying examination.

DBATU M.Tech Admission 2023

DBATU also offers two-year postgraduate programs that lead to the awarding of Master of Technology (M. Tech.) degree in the disciplines of Power Systems, Chemical, Computer, Electronics and Telecommunication, Environmental, Manufacturing and Thermal and Fluids engineering.

In order to seek admission to the M.Tech programmes, a candidate needs to hold a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline.

Admissions to M. Tech. Programme will be made through a Centralized Admission Process of Directorate of Technical Education for GATE qualified candidates. The departments of University, Affiliated colleges and recognized Institutes are authorized to conduct their own entrance tests for admitting non-GATE candidates, if positions are available in respective colleges and departments. The departments, colleges and institutions shall announce the time table for conducting the tests for such candidates, conduct the entrance test and declare merit list before the commencement of the academic year.

Candidates seeking admissions to the Master’s courses must mention the valid Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) score in their application forms. However, a valid GATE score does not automatically entitle a candidate for admission.

The selection of the candidates for admission shall be on the basis of the performance of the candidates at the selection procedure, GATE score, and the marks obtained at the last qualifying examination. For GATE registration, candidates need to fill up the form ONLINE at the official website

DBATU Ph.D Admission 2023

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University offers full-time and part-time programs for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in diversified academic disciplines. Students can opt for full time/part time/off campus as per their choice.

The candidates applying for Ph.D. programmes should have passed M. E. /M. Tech. or equivalent degree in relevant discipline with minimum 60% of marks (55% in case of reserved category candidates from the State of Maharashtra only) awarded by any recognized University/Institute.

The admission of the candidates for Ph. D will be on the basis of entrance test followed by an interview. All candidates will have to appear for entrance test as well as interview for becoming eligible for admission. The Entrance Examination will be conducted by the University on the First Saturday of the month of August and February every year.

The list of candidates found eligible based on their performance in entrance test and interview for the offer of Ph. D. admission will be displayed in the order of GENERAL MERIT on the admission portal of the University.

Rather than doubting your own self, believe strongly that with determination and consistency you can achieve whatever you have in mind. Studying hard is not enough. There are additional tips you need to keep in mind in order to score high CGPA:

Paying proper attention in the class can make a drastic difference. You will not have to depend on rote memorization.
Develop good relationship with your teachers as they hold 10 out of 100 marks.
Be regular with your assignments
Try writing the answers from the perspective of the examiner.
Group discussions and studies helps you cover the topic broadly.
Be consistent with your core studies
Revise your concepts regularly
Involve yourself in other activities of your interest apart form studying.

Studying hard will get you marks but don’t forget to take proper sleep and stay relaxed during examinations

What is the best part about DBATU, Raigad?

I have a few friends from DBATU, Raigad here are some of the things that they mentioned about the institute.

It is a state Govt. autonomous university. It has now become central tech university for all engineering colleges in Maharashtra.
The curriculum followed at the university is similar to most of the IITs in India.
BATU has a system of remedial exams, within one month after result declaration, that saves wastage of academic year.

These are a few of the many things that make DBATU, Raigad great.

I have a few friends from DBATU Lonere. According to them, it is a decent university. The curriculum followed by the institute is great. It is even better for core technical knowledge.

DBATU offers the provision of remedial examination. If you fail a subject in a semester, you can retake the exam after one month of result declaration, that way you don’t risk losing a year. But according to some of my friends, the examinations are not conducted efficiently. The institute needs to work on its examination management.
