What is the Best & Worst of studying at CUSAT?

● Top Answer By Susmita Guho on 19 Apr 21

Ans
There are various “no choice” situations studying at CUSAT. Here are some of them. One of the best things about CUSAT is the uniform. You don’t need to worry about repeating your dresses. You just need to wake up in the morning, wear that shirt and move to the classes. There is no need to change the outfit even if anyone is sleepy and move ahead to the next class without any fuss. Next, there are very few places nearby to visit. One can only have comfort at their flats. The language is way different and the locals of those areas do not understand a bit. People speak up a lot of things in the face of other people as they are unable to understand the language.  The location is one of the best things when you wake up in the morning as it is serene. You can browse the areas at night. Students were often found playing badminton at midnights. There are frequent strikes in the area. In terms of the future, CUSAT usually provides decent opportunities at good places for their students. These are some of the things I heard from my friends at the institute. Hope this helps.

Ques

What are the minimum percentage required for a student in class 12 Bihar board exam to get an admission in the CUSAT if he has cleared the CUSAT entrance exam?

● Top Answer By Ahalya Bose on 22 Jul 21

Ans
Well, the minimum percentage required for a student in class 12th Bihar board exam to get admission in the CUSAT depends upon the field you choose. If we see in fields such as Instrumentation Technology, Marine Engineering, etc all require different eligibility criteria. Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech in Instrumentation Technology: Passed class 12th or equivalent examination from any state or national board in India, with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry took together. Secured 55% marks in 12th or equivalent overall. B.Tech. in Naval Architecture & Ship Building: Passed class XII or equivalent from Kerala or any other board/university accepted by CUSAT with minimum aggregate marks of 60% (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics mandatory) and secured a score of at least 50% marks in Mathematics separately. They are also required to have scored minimum aggregate marks of 50% in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry in class XII or equivalent. B.Tech in Polymer Science & Engineering: Passed class 12 from the state of Kerala with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as optional subjects. Candidates must have passed any other examination accepted by the university as equivalent thereto with at least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and 50% marks in Mathematics separately. B.Tech in Marine Engineering: Secured at least 60% aggregate marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry in Class XII or equivalent. Secured a minimum aggregate mark of 50% in English studied in either Class X or XII. For this course, you have to go under a physical and eye fitness certificate at the time of admission obtained from Medical Examiners approved by DG Shipping. Taking admission in any of the fields of CUSAT is worth it. If you get a chance to get into CUSAT do take it. Being a National University, it has its importance and reputation.

Ques

What are some helpful tips for students starting their first year at CUSAT?

● Top Answer By Sreeja Prasad on 19 Apr 21

Ans
CUSAT helps to get a number of opportunities and is definitely a good place to start your career. If you are not from native Kerala, then you may find some difficulties and you need to adjust in terms of food, surrounding, language, and many other things. But with time things will get easier as there are some great people out there who will help you with everything. Here are some of the tips that may help you.  College: You need to work hard if you want to survive here. It is important to attend the lectures, make assignments, and score well on the tests. The college is very serious about attendance. The course curriculum is almost the same for all the branches in the first year. But there have been reports of ragging in the college campus as well as its hostel. Location: Kerala is a nice place. The weather is almost the same throughout the year. Umbrella is very important as it gets rainy anytime throughout day and night. The transport facilities are good. Both roadways and railways are a mode of transport. Buses are also available for travel throughout the state. If you are from outside of Kerala you may need to learn some common important terms in the language. Food: It might be difficult for the students to adjust in the terms of food. Especially, the vegetarians have to adjust a little bit more as vegetarian food is less available. There are a lot of things to explore in Kerala and it is a great opportunity to get to this place and enjoy it every bit.

Ques

My CUSAT rank is 195 and KEAM I believe will be in 1500. Which one should I choose, CUSAT or CET, TKM, COE Thrissur?

● Top Answer By Arjun Chatterjee on 26 Jul 21

Ans
CUSAT and CET are close competitors, but CUSAT is the ultimate winner. CET is also not bad, but it’s slightly bland than CUSAT. Both the institutes have decent placements. All others are far away from comparison with these two. A few points to be considered before choosing are below: CUSAT is a Tier-1 college and is well-known in the country and around the world. It is ranked 1001+ in World University Ranking 2021. CET is culturally rich. It has grand cultural fests in the college as compared to CUSAT. The alumni network of both institutes is strong. In CUSAT, most of the top placements are in CSE, IT, and Fire & Safety. There are limited companies coming for EEE, ME, and Civil. It has become a common scenario for these branches. Criteria CUSAT Fee INR 3.53 Lakhs Average CTC INR 4.7 LPA Highest CTC INR 15 LPA In conclusion, if you want to go for higher studies outside India or incubate a start-up, CUSAT is the best institute.

Ques

What is trial round in CUSAT?

● Top Answer By Shweta Bakshi on 20 Jul 21

Ans
The trial allotment round in CUSAT is not like a real allotment round. By the trial rounds, they give you a very rough idea about the position you get in the rank list for the particular branch. If your rank is 17 in the trial allotment round for the computer science branch then it means 17 students are ahead of you. Basically, the purpose of conducting the trial allotment rounds is that the chances for you to get admission are high as the students travel miles just to get the admission. If they do not get admitted then it would be a complete waste of time as well as money. Lastly, we can say that the trial allotment rounds are just to give you an idea of which branch you are likely to get. So that you can complete the further criteria accordingly considering all other things together.

Which is better for CS ,CUSAT or tkm?

● Top Answer By Saptarshi Bose on 20 Jul 21

Ans
CUSAT and TKM both take students based on CET. Students always land in confusion between these two. CUSAT also admits students based on the KEAM score. Being a student of CUSAT, I can say it is better than TKM in several ways. Global Recognition - CUSAT has a better global recognition than TKM. CUSAT has been awarded by many countries for its excellent performance in the fields of education. Culture - CUSAT is more linked and connected with growing industries therefore it offers its students better startup programs and cultures. It also has a wide community to help the students with the real-world industry. Facilities: - High tech facilities are offered by CUSAT. Well-equipped and high-tech labs with the latest technological advancements are present there. Placements - It definitely offers better placement than TKM. Its placement records and stats are better than TKM for every academic year. Categories CUSAT TKM Course Fee 3.53 lakh 8410 (1st year) Highest CTC 15 LPA 12 LPA Average CTC 7 LPA 3.5-5 LPA Recruiting Companies TCS, Infosys, Wipro, IBM, etc. Oracle, Wipro, Microsoft, Infosys, etc. CUSAT is situated in Kochi which is a beautiful city and also an industrial hub. So students will definitely benefit from the nearby industries. CUSAT is a university established on its own hard work. It has its specially made curriculum and revised topics which proves beneficial to the students
