Among the above two institutes, CUSAT is a better option for engineering in Computer Science, considering the enormous opportunities provided by the institute.

CUSAT has a lot to offer to its students, specifically in branches like Computer Science and Engineering, which offers excellent packages in their placement.
There are various “no choice” situations studying at CUSAT. Here are some of them.
These are some of the things I heard from my friends at the institute. Hope this helps.
Well, the minimum percentage required for a student in class 12th Bihar board exam to get admission in the CUSAT depends upon the field you choose. If we see in fields such as Instrumentation Technology, Marine Engineering, etc all require different eligibility criteria.
Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech in Instrumentation Technology:
B.Tech. in Naval Architecture & Ship Building:
B.Tech in Polymer Science & Engineering:
B.Tech in Marine Engineering:
Taking admission in any of the fields of CUSAT is worth it. If you get a chance to get into CUSAT do take it. Being a National University, it has its importance and reputation.
CUSAT helps to get a number of opportunities and is definitely a good place to start your career. If you are not from native Kerala, then you may find some difficulties and you need to adjust in terms of food, surrounding, language, and many other things. But with time things will get easier as there are some great people out there who will help you with everything.
Here are some of the tips that may help you.
There are a lot of things to explore in Kerala and it is a great opportunity to get to this place and enjoy it every bit.
I have a friend who is an alumnus of this institute. He had 62.5% in his graduation from CUSAT. In an interview, when he mentioned his percentage calling himself an average student. The interviewer weighed 62.5% from CUSAT above the same percentage of other university graduate students.
The major industry recruiters or MNCs come for placements like Cisco, TCS, L&T, IOCL, Wipro, Godrej, Infosys, CEAT, ONGC, Saipem, Standard Chartered, Vedanta, Dr. Reddy’s, IBM, Oracle, and more. In conclusion, the CUSAT graduates have an excellent reputation in the industry.
CUSAT and CET are close competitors, but CUSAT is the ultimate winner. CET is also not bad, but it’s slightly bland than CUSAT. Both the institutes have decent placements. All others are far away from comparison with these two.
A few points to be considered before choosing are below:
Criteria | CUSAT |
Fee | INR 3.53 Lakhs |
Average CTC | INR 4.7 LPA |
Highest CTC | INR 15 LPA |
In conclusion, if you want to go for higher studies outside India or incubate a start-up, CUSAT is the best institute.
Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) provides hostels for students. Hostels at CUSAT are residential units that foster community living.
Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) has a central office, located in the Common Facility Centre. The central office is governed by a hostel advisory committee and issues hostel rules. It also helps students to get accommodation in the campus hostels. University’s office also takes care of new student’s hostel admission.
These are a few of the hostels for both boys and girls at CUSAT:
There is also a KMSME Boys hostel for students who are pursuing Marine Engineering. The hostel comes under the Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering.
Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) also has a mess. It is run by a committee of students. The mess food is quite good and comes at a reasonable price.
The trial allotment round in CUSAT is not like a real allotment round. By the trial rounds, they give you a very rough idea about the position you get in the rank list for the particular branch.
Lastly, we can say that the trial allotment rounds are just to give you an idea of which branch you are likely to get. So that you can complete the further criteria accordingly considering all other things together.
CUSAT and TKM both take students based on CET. Students always land in confusion between these two. CUSAT also admits students based on the KEAM score. Being a student of CUSAT, I can say it is better than TKM in several ways.
Categories | CUSAT | TKM |
Course Fee | 3.53 lakh | 8410 (1st year) |
Highest CTC | 15 LPA | 12 LPA |
Average CTC | 7 LPA | 3.5-5 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | TCS, Infosys, Wipro, IBM, etc. | Oracle, Wipro, Microsoft, Infosys, etc. |
CUSAT is situated in Kochi which is a beautiful city and also an industrial hub. So students will definitely benefit from the nearby industries. CUSAT is a university established on its own hard work. It has its specially made curriculum and revised topics which proves beneficial to the students
My brother is an alumnus of CUSAT and according to him, the best branch to opt for at the institute is Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding. It is the flagship course offered by the university. To get admission into this branch you will need a rank less than 500 in the CUSAT CAT or a relaxed rank depending on the category of reservation you have.
Here is the required cutoff for Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding according to 2020 trends.
B.Tech in Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding | |
Round | Cutoff by Rank |
1 | 58 |
2 | 65 |
3 | 65 |
Hope this clears your doubts.
