Karnatak University, Dharwad (KUD) traces its roots back to 1st March, 1950. It is the second oldest university of the state. The university has been recognized as “Potential of Excellence” by University Grants Commission. It has its campuses at Haveri, Belgaum, Dharwad, Bijapur and Gadag. It has 249 colleges, affiliated under it. Under its 5 departments- Science, Arts, Commerce, Law and Education, Karnatak University (KUD), Dharwad provides 50 PG courses, 4 Advanced Diploma courses, 11 Certificate, 26 M.Phil and 42 Ph.D courses.
