Admission to BA (Hons.) Spanish assumes no prior formal instruction or learning in Spanish and no education certificate or test results for Spanish language.
Applicants who have not learnt Spanish in school or who have not studied Spanish at an accredited institute (e.g., Instituto Cervantes) will be expected to have scored a minimum percentage of marks in English in Class XII. Or they need to have obtained a stipulated percentage in their Class XII English Board Exam (or equivalent such as IB) and a given percentage in a secondary school examination of any other language for which examinations are conducted at Class XII level (such as Sanskrit, Hindi, Tamil, Bengali). These eligibility percentages/marks/cumulative grades are announced each year prior to the admission cycle.
For applicants who have studied Spanish in school to Class XII, or who have obtained a Spanish language proficiency certificate through a language-learning institute, JSLL will conduct a Spanish proficiency exam in order to ‘place’ applicants in BA Hons. Spanish language courses of the appropriate level. New students with some level of Spanish proficiency must complete the same number of programme credits (and other degree requirements) as any other students of the three-year programme. The specific courses that continuing students of Spanish need to complete shall be determined by JSLL.

Placements
Scholarships are also provided to students by both the colleges. Scholarships in IILM have various criteria for CAT and MAT qualified students. CAT percentile rank 90 and above get 75% scholarship. The details on scholarships are available on the college website.
Scholarships of JGBS are renewed on a year-to-year basis through a careful review of the University’s scholarship committees. Students securing above 80% marks (overall class 12th) are eligible with family Income Tax Return of less than ?30 Lakhs per annum.
