Established in 2005, Shree Somnath Sanskrit University was established to promote Vedic studies on the traditional state in Gujarat state. It is approved by the University Grant Commission (UGC) and is a public university. The university has provided affiliation to 35 Colleges/Institutes including the University of Sanskrit College.

Shree Somnath Sanskrit university offers Certificate Course, Diploma course, UG, PG, P.G.D.C.A, and Ph.D courses.
In addition to various specializations provided by the university, courses like English, computer applications, Gujarati, Hindi, and Sociology are also offered.
The university conducts its programs under C.B.C.S. (Choice based credit system) and semester system.

Eligibility

For students who wish to take admission to Acharya program, commonly known as MA program, a graduate degree is must. Students must have a bachelor’s degree in Sanskrit.

SSSU M.Phil. (Tattvacharya) Admissions 2023

The University provides M.Phil. under 8 specializations. The applicants should have an Acharya/ M.A. in Sanskrit to be eligible. Each course is offered for 1 year.

SSSU Certificate Courses Admissions 2023

The University offers 6 months of certificate courses in Yoga and Karmkanda. The interested candidate should have passed the 10th Exam.

Eligibility

A certificate course is offered to students who have at least passed class 10 exams. Those who are eligible are selected to the two specializations offered by the college on merit basis only.

SSSU Diploma Course Admissions 2023

The university offers 6 specializations under the diploma course. Namely – Yoga, Temple management, Vastushastra, Karmakanda, Sanskrit Teaching, and Jyotisha. Each course has a duration of 1 year. The candidate needs to be 12th passed.

Ques. Are there any special facilities for women?

Ans. Girl students are provided the opportunity to excel as professionals by mastering subjects like Jyotiṣa, Vāstu, Karmakāṇḍa, and Conversational Sanskrit. These subjects may also be pursued as hobbies.

Ques. What about the hostel facilities?

Ans. Hostel facilities are for both Men and Women. The hostel with boarding is free for students.

Ques. What language is the examination held in?

Ans.In the examinations of various Diploma courses, Certificate courses, and the first two years of the Shastri course, the medium of answering is Hindi, Sanskrit, Gujarati, or English. However, in the third year exams of the Shastri course, Acharya course, M.Phil. and Ph.D. courses, the medium of answering is Sanskrit only.
