One of my friends, who is working in Cognizant, has studied Electronics & Communication Engineering at Nirma University. As per her insights, the following are the things essentially wrong with the University.

  • If you are pursuing ECE and inclined towards programming, it is problematic.
  • There are companies like Motorola, ARM, STM, and others with 7.5 points as cut-off criteria. Even if you miss the cut-off by a margin, yet you cannot sit for interviews in these companies.
  • Some of the faculty is discouraging. They focus on bookish knowledge and are not open to new ideas. It is more like a school than a college.
  • Most top-scoring students are believed to be Idols, and the average scorers do not get any spotlight.
  • The labs are well-equipped, but most of the instruments do not work. Practical teaching is like spoon-feeding.
  • Attendance is given utmost importance on the campus. You will find students worrying more about attendance than academics.
  • You cannot afford to become a defaulter as there are consequences for it. The minimum attendance should be 85%.

Overall, the only way all this can go smoothly is to change the mentality by focusing on why and what to learn, future benefits, and practical approaches.

NMIMS is the best option among these. The strategic location, excellent placement, and brand value put NMIMS ahead of the other institute mentioned in the question.

NMIMS is located at the financial hub of Mumbai. The campus is just an hour or an hour and a half drive away from commercial and industrial spaces like Bandra Kurla Complex, Navi Mumbai, South Bombay, etc. Due to the locational advantage students can easily attend industrial visits of reputed organizations like TOI, Pepsico, JPMC, etc.

NMIMS Mumbai placements are way ahead of the B-Schools in the same tier. Even with a batch size of 500+, the institute offers an average CTC of INR 23.07 LPA.

SVNIT is theoretical research-based while CEPT is more practice-oriented. If you are interested in pursuing a Ph.D. further or if you would like to get placed on-campus, then SVNIT is your place.

After matching your requirements focus on excelling at GATE to get structural engineering getting into structural engineering at SVNIT.

If you choose CEPT then you will have to work hard to get a job. It is well known in all of Asia and has one of the best civil engineers. The faculty is highly qualified, its alumni are working in MNCs and most of them get annual trips abroad.

Lastly, if you are not from Ahmedabad you will have to stay at the CEPT hostel which is an awesome place to stay, as you will see for yourself if you so choose to be.

Be mindful of the fees because both SVNIT and Nirma charge more about the quality they provide.

It entirely depends on your future plan. If you can afford Nirma and don’t have any plan to pursue further studies after B.Tech then go for Nirma University.

However, if you want to pursue higher education, and you have confidence that you can learn on your own, then LD will definitely be a better choice.

LD gives its students a lot of freedom to work on their interests while maintaining their CGPA which plays a huge amount of role in further studies.

The other factor that is crucial is the alumni of the college. LD College alumni network is huge and a lot of notable alumni are based in both India and abroad. When talking about alumni, Nirma stands no chance as LD was established way before Nirma.

Here is a brief comparison of the institutes.

Category Nirma University LD
Companies Visited L&T, Biocon, Dabur, etc. Atul, Adani, Tata Chemicals, etc.
Highest Package 46.27 LPA 10 LPA
Average Package 8 LPA 4 LPA

Therefore, you should take your decision thoroughly and wisely whether you must spend approximately eight lakhs for four years or you should spend 6000 for four years with one institution being older than the others along with huge alumni and a great brand name.

Nirma University offers a BBA-MBA integrated course which is quite amazing in the curriculum framework. Here, students get an opportunity to experience the actual corporate world through internships and interactions with business experts. But you can not expect the same in terms of extracurricular exposure.

Nirma University has an amazing culture. If you wish to spend 3-5 years in any B-School, it must be Nirma. But if you are in search of a regular college environment where you can indulge yourself in dance, music, and fests with a chilled-out lifestyle, then you might have to reconsider your decision.

  • Now coming to academics and curriculum. The first three years of your Management program will comprise Innovative courses which are well balanced with case study and theoretical knowledge and are up-to-date with the current industrial requirements. After which you will have an option to exit the University by procuring a degree of Bachelor's in Business Administration or you can choose to complete your integrated studies of MBA for the next 4 semesters.
  • The faculty at Nirma University are well qualified and are highly experienced with an apt skill of teaching. Few of them even have industrial experiences which are like cherry on the top.

Nirma, as a brand is getting to its popularity and you will definitely reap the fruit of their brand name and alumni network further in your career.
