The Central University of Gujarat is established by an Act of Parliament of India, No. 25 of 2009 called Central Universities Act (2009). Currently, the university has 11 Schools with 22 Centres along with one independent Centre and 66 programs of studies. CUG has been ranked 60th in India and 2nd top most University in Gujarat according to NIRF 2016 rankings and as per the latest NIRF 2020 Rankings of the Universities all over India, Central University is among the top 50.

Central University of Gujarat Admissions
Admission into the University subjected to pass the entrance exam as CUG has decided that CUET will be mandatory for all the candidates and there will be no exemption to UGC-NET (including JRF)/ UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET/ GATE/ teacher fellowship holder.
How to Apply?
- The admission into Central University of Gujarat can only be done via the entrance exam Common University Entrance Test (CUET) available at https: cuet.samarth.ac.in
- The aspiring candidate needs to register himself on the CUET website for appearing in the entrance exam.
- Applicants are required to fill in a form with all the details regarding the program applied for, choice of University (up to 3), personal information, education, and qualification details and scanned photograph along with a signature.
- The applicant needs to select the exam center online as the examination will be held online only.
- An application fee of INR 800 (UG & PG) or INR 1000 (RP) needs to be paid online through net-banking/ UPI/ debit-credit card for completing the registration process (INR 350 and INR 450 respectively for SC/ ST applicants and Nil for PWD).
- A confirmation SMS will be received by the candidate and the official website will announce the date of examination.
- After the merit list is released by CUET, the selected candidates are required to visit the University with prescribed documents for counseling which will be paid.
- The final list of selected students will be announced by the University based on the counseling and the applicant will be called upon for the admission and verification of documents.
The Central University of Gujarat strictly follows the UGC, MHRD guidelines, and Government of India policies regarding reservations in admissions and can be amended from time to time by the authorities. A travel concession for SC/ ST and PWD candidates will be provided for interviews for admissions to various programs by the University.

Central University of Gujarat Scholarship
The University offers Non-NET fellowship to its students which are governed by the relevant provisions of UGC and amendments therein from time-to-time. It is provided to the M.Phil/ Ph.D. students for 18 months and 4 years respectively. Students are awarded INR 5000 per month with a contingency of INR 10000 per annum for Science subjects and INR 8000 per annum for Humanities and Social Science subjects. The post-metric scholarship is also available for the Scheduled Tribe students at the University.
Central University of Gujarat Facilities
- Hostel: As the campus is in transit to be shifted to the new campus on Vadodara, there are limited seats available for the hostel. The facility is available for both girls and boys as CUG has hired buildings in the Gandhinagar area to be served as the purpose of Hostels for the students enrolled. Also, no separate rooms are available for foreign students and the same will be allotted based on availability.
- Library: The Central Library of the University is fully-equipped with the requirements of students and the faculty members as there are 3000+ printed books and 8000+ e-journals available. The Library has KOHA software and computerized library facilities too. As the University is Wi-Fi enabled the students can utilize the facility inside the Library equipped with over 23 Pentium workstations.
