Goa University PhD admission 2023 is open now. The last date to apply for the February session is February 28, 2023. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online on the official website of the university. Admissions to the PhD courses will be granted to candidates with CSIRUGC/UGC NET-JRF/lectureship/DBT JRF/SET/SLET/JEST/ICAR-NET Examination of different Indian States/ GATE with a valid certificate, those having DST Inspire fellowship or Goa University PhD Entrance Test (GU-PET). The final selection will be granted on the basis of a personal interview conducted by the respective department. Goa University offers admission to Ph.D programme under 34 specializations. Admission will be based on entrance examination conducted by the university. SET/NET/JRF qualified candidates will be exempted from the entrance examination. Master’s degree holder in relevant subject with 55% marks (general category) and 50% marks (SC/ST category) secured in the qualifying examination will be eligible for admission. Goa University Ph.D Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for PhD admission at Goa University, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

• Candidates who have obtained a Master’s Degree or a Professional Degree declared equivalent to the Master’s Degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate, or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7 point scale(or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed), or an equivalent Degree from a foreign recognised institution.
• A relaxation of 5% marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, shall be given for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy Layer)/Persons with Disabilities and other categories
• Students who have completed M. Phil Degree by distance mode are not eligible

Goa University Ph.D Admission Process

Admission to PhD programs is done on the basis of Goa University PhD Entrance Test (GU-PET) followed by a personal interview. A weightage of 70% shall be given for the Entrance Test and 30% to the performance in the Interview/Viva-Voce. A Candidate shall be required to score a minimum of 50% marks at the Interview. (5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/Person with Disability, or other categories of Candidates as specified by the State Government). 

Candidates who have cleared any of the National or State Level Tests like M.Phil/CSIRUGC/UGC NET/SET/JRF/lectureship, DBT JRF /SLET/JEST/ICAR-NET /GATE/GPAT/GU-PET etc. Examinations shall be admitted by normalizing their marks/score/ percentage in such tests with respect to 70% component of GU-PET.

• Provisional merit list will be uploaded by the university based on the performance in the entrance examination.
• SET/NET/JRF qualified candidates will be exempted from the exam.
• SET/NET/JRF qualified and selected applicants of the entrance examination will be called for interview.
• Interview will be followed by a presentation of the research proposal.
• Selected candidates will be invited for the final payment of the admission fee through the mail.
• Payment of admission fee will confirm admission.
