Assignments constitute continuous evaluation. The marks that you secure in the assignments will be counted in your final result. As mentioned earlier, an assignment of a course carries 30% weightage. You are therefore advised to take your assignment seriously.
The TMA for each semester can be downloaded from the Student Zone of the University website. You have to complete the assignment within the due dates specified in the assignment booklet. You will not be allowed to appear for the term-end examination for any course if you do not submit the assignment in time for that course. If you appear in the term-end examination, without submitting the assignments, the result of the term-end examination is liable to be canceled.

IGNOU has a Campus Placement Cell (CPC) which was established in the year 2005. The CPC works on the premise that the right candidate meets the right recruiter at the right place. It acts as an interface between the industry and the students/alumni. The CPC conducts various campus placement drives, job fairs and employability enhancement activities throughout the year at its headquarters, regional centres, study centres and company premises.
In addition, CPC is planning to expand its activity base further by introducing new initiatives like preparing soft skill modules for the students. This activity would enable CPC in providing better placement opportunities to the students/alumni and thus, enable better functioning of CPC.

It is advised that you do not consider whether the IGNOU certificate is valuable in terms of getting a job. However, the acquired knowledge and skills will be precious to you. Time management, submitting assignments on time, and sitting for exams at the end are all essential requirements.
The institute's name serves only as an icebreaker at first; once hired, there is no turning back. Put that knowledge to use at work.
Most importantly, it is a GOVERNMENT OF INDIA recognized certificate that is accepted almost everywhere in the world.
So, if you want to work while studying or can't afford a regular course, IGNOU is far superior to good.
Below mentioned are some of the positive aspects of IGNOU:
When compared to other private universities such as Symbiosis Distance Learning, you pay nearly one-tenth the price to complete your degree or PG (except for an MBA, which is half the price).
It's the government. University is recognized worldwide until the criteria state that only full-time courses are permitted.
You get standard books that will not only impart good knowledge but will also help you clear competitive exams in simple and easy language, and they are available in both Hindi and English.
Transfers are available in almost all states if you need to relocate during your academic career.
There are several other benefits to joining this university and simply completing your tasks on time, such as assignments that are given only once a year and you have almost 6 months to complete them, and the answers are easy to find in your course books.
It provides an excellent platform for your success in life. If you want to study at IGNOU, you should definitely do so.
Yes. The IGNOU marking system is very poor, and you must have a lot of patience if you are pursuing any degree from IGNOU. If you fail to submit your assignment grades, your results will be delayed for several months.
IGNOU is certainly playing with students' careers because they are so unconcerned about their grades and future. They are unconcerned about how and what is written on the answer sheets. They only postpone things and do not address the issue.
IGNOU is best for distance learning MBA. IGNOU MBA course structure is pretty good. You will get to learn the basics first then the main concepts. The study materials are good and make the learning process smooth. IGNOU also has a better reputation.
Symbiosis Pune is also a good option for MBA. You can choose one of these two options based on fee structure and eligibility.
Even an IIM degree may be worthless if you do not learn anything while pursuing it.
Because you have not specified the nature of your use for an MBA degree, it is assumed that you are a working professional interested in gaining theoretical knowledge of management through an MBA from IGNOU.
When we compare IGNOU to other distance learning universities such as SMU and Symbiosis, we can see that IGNOU stands out due to the well-structured course material and the importance of assignments. The faculty who are mentoring SOMS IGNOU (School of Management Studies) is top-tier professors from IIMs and IIFT, as well as senior government officials.
However, expecting an MBA to be equivalent to a regular MBA degree to get a job is unrealistic. Most MBA programs in India are extremely rigorous and intensive. This is because a future manager is expected to perform under pressure, and a management student is subjected to that pressure from day one of his MBA program. As a result of regular case study discussions and extensive knowledge sharing in peer groups, a regular MBA is considered to be far more valuable than a distance MBA. However, a regular MBA requires a significant time and financial investment.
So, if you are already in a well-established job and want to advance to a management position or simply learn more about the theoretical aspects of management, an MBA from IGNOU will undoubtedly help you serve the purpose with minimal investment of both time and money.
The worth of an IGNOU degree can be determined in several ways:
In IGNOU, none of the faculty members at your regional center or study center will assist you in answering your questions. You must assume everything on your own and act accordingly. If you have any questions about your assignment submission or lab courses, your study center will simply tell you to contact the regional center. And in the regional center, no one will answer the phone, and no one will respond to your emails. If you accidentally sent your document or something to the wrong center, they will notify you after the form submission deadline and tell you that there is nothing you can do and that you must submit the form again in the upcoming semester. Rude teachers will respond to your inquiries. You may feel as if you are studying without paying fees, and the teachers are unconcerned about your problems. They are simply teachers by designation; they have no idea what to do or how to assist students with assignments/labs, etc.
Students are pursuing distance education because they are unable to attend college daily due to their jobs. However, they expect them to travel to a regional center that is not in the same city every month to have our basic questions answered. In terms of projects, they may say in viva that the report should look like this. When you submit the report as instructed the next time, another superintendent will be present to reject it and instruct you to format it as before.
IGNOU does not provide semester or year-end grade reports. It will provide you with a consolidated mark sheet at the end of your program. However, if you want a mark sheet halfway through, you must apply it separately. You will be charged a nominal fee and will receive IGNOU marksheet for all of the papers you have already examined, as well as the results.
The university gives you the option of coming to the convocation ceremony to get your degree certificate or sending an Rs. 200 demand draft as they post the degree.
To be honest, IGNOU is an undesirable university in India. Don't believe those who claim that "it's the best open university" and other such nonsense. They don't give a damn about you, your future, or your time. When you go to the regional center, they tell you to go to the IGNOU headquarters. And the office of concern in the headquarter of Ignou will tell you to go to the post office, and the post office will tell you to bring the dispatch number from the headquarters of IGNOU, and they will tell you that the regional center will provide the dispatch number of the book but it would not get into your hands even at the end.
IGNOU is the worst open university; they value the number of students over the quality of education. They do nothing to help students, and IGNOU is just a big scam run by undeserving people and goons. It is strongly advised to avoid IGNOU. AMU and Jamia are far superior for open studies.
The passing marks at IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) are
Theory - 30 out of 100 / 18 out of 50
Assignments - More than 50%
If you fail to score 50% in assignments, you will have to resubmit them. If you score above 30 out of 100 or 18 out of 500 in theory, then you will pass without having submitted assignments.
Percentage Calculation - Assignments- 30% weightage and Term End Examination- 70% weightage for FST (Foundation Course in Science & Technology) and FHS (Foundation Course in Humanities and Social Sciences).
