Course Details

Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) is an autonomous law university in New Raipur, Chhattisgarh. HNLU is named after the former Chief Justice of India, Justice Mohammad Hidayatullah. It is one of the National Law Schools established in India being sixth in the series of such national law schools. It was established as a centre for legal excellence by the Government of Chhattisgarh. The university offers a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) integrated Programme, an L.L.M. Programme, and Ph.D. Course.

HNLU PhD Eligibility

You must have obtained a Master’s Degree of Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur or any other University established by law in force or any other degree recognized as equivalent thereto in Law.

You should have obtained a minimum of 55% marks or its equivalent grade for general category and 50% marks or its equivalent for SC/ST/PH category.

HNLU PhD Admission Process

You shall be selected on the basis of Written Test conducted by the University. If you qualify the Entrance Exam, you shall have to sit for the Interview. Your final selection will be on the basis of their inter se merit in the Interview.

The Written Test shall be exclusively in English Language.

You should be able to secure a minimum of the following marks (cut-off marks) in the Written Test:

For unreserved/OBC category - 50% of the total marks in written test
For SC/ST- 40% of the total marks in written test

Exemptions: If you have qualified for UGC- NET (Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)/ lectureship) or SLET, you shall be exempted from writing the Entrance Test. However, you shall be required to appear for the interview like other candidates who are required to appear in the entrance test for Ph.D. (Law).

You must download the Application Form from the University website, and a print out of the Form. The duly filled Application Form must be submitted by the last date

You should fill the Application Form with the required personal and educational details.

Application Fee: You must pay the Application Fee of Rs. 1500 in case of general category and Rs. 1000 in case of SC/ST category, through the Demand Draft of the said amount, drawn in favour of Registrar, Hidayatullah National Law University, payable at Raipur.

You must attach the relevant enclosures and the Demand Draft along with the Application Form, and send it to the following address:
