Previously, you needed to multiply your CGPA by 10 and subtract 5 from the result to get your percentage according to the norms of Gauhati University. Let’s say you got a CGPA of 8.5. Then your percentage will be 8.5*10=85-5=80%.
Recently, the university has changed the calculation procedure. As per the updated process, the extra 5 is not subtracted while calculating the percentage.
At Gauhati University, you can appear for your back papers in alternate semesters. So, you can appear for your 1st year back papers in your 3rd and 5th semesters and not in your 2nd and 4th semesters.
You can take your back paper as many times as you want. However, you need to clear all your back papers within 6 years of your admission. Also, you can’t appear in your 6th-semester examination, until you have cleared all the papers for your 1st and 2nd semesters including all your back papers.

For practical based subjects, don’t take practicals lightly.
Some of my friends attended Gauhati University. According to their experience, the university offers a decent MBA program. The degree course is not that competitive, but the course curriculum is up to industry standard.
Gu offers decent hostel accommodation. The campus life is also quite good. According to the recent placement highlights the highest CTC offered was 5 LPA. Some of the major recruiters that visit the campus placement are OIL, CocaCola, etc.
According to the reviews online, the difference is that Tezpur University (TU) and Gauhati University (GU) is that the former is a central university while the latter is a state university.
There are many other differences between the two other than this.
Therefore TU and GU are very much different from each other when it comes to academics, teachings, curriculum, etc. So choose the one that suits your requirements, as it will shape your career ahead.
