Course Information
Eligibility Criteria
- A candidate must have passed the B.Sc. (Agri)/ B.Sc. (Hort.)/ B.Sc (Agri. Biotech)/ B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture/ Horticulture/B.Sc.(H.Sc.)/ B.Sc.(Hons) Home Science/ B.F.Sc./ B.Tech(Fishery Science) of 4 years duration / B.V.Sc & A.H. (as the case may be) degree examination of this University or any other University recognized by this University securing minimum CGPA of 2.60 / 4.00 scale or 3.25/5.00 scale or 6.60/10.00 scale for Gen/OBC/UPS category and 2.20/4.00 or 2.75/5.00 or 5.60/10.00 for SC/ST/DAC. This shall be relaxable for candidates having 5 years of service experience and deputed by the Govt. of Assam/AAU to a CGPA of 2.30 in 4.00 scale or 5.70 in 10.00 scale or 45% of marks in traditional system. One seat in each of the disciplines will be reserved for in-service candidate of AAU/Govt. of Assam.
- In case where Grade points are not awarded only marks are awarded, the candidate must have secured at least 60% marks for General/OBC/UPS category and 50% marks for SC/ST/DAC category.
- In addition to that B.Tech (Food Technology)/ B.Sc Food Science & Technology/ Horticulture/Biochemistry of 4 year duration will also be eligible for M.Sc (H.Sc.) Food Science & Nutrition. Also the student with B.Sc.(Agri) will be eligible for M.Sc (H.Sc.) Extension and Communication Management.

Until 2018, there was no entrance examination for admission in B.Sc Agriculture at Assam Agricultural University. The selection was based on 12th marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. From 2018 onwards, the university started taking entrance tests. If you are from an outer state, you will have to appear in the entrance test conducted by ICAR.
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) conducts an all-India entrance test for admission into different agricultural universities of India. But if you are a resident of Assam, you can get admission based on your 10+2 PCB marks. There are also options of taking admission through high fee categories. Other than the ICAR entrance test, there are no specific entrance tests. Selection through ICAR is given based on ranking.
