The M.Sc. in Strength and Conditioning at Cardiff Metropolitan University also benefits from many industry based visiting lecturers. This is the first programme of its kind to offer a dedicated internship module through which students can gain academic credits while undertaking work experience in a club structure, professional organisation or National Governing Body. The programme embraces a plethora of delivery modes to engage the learner. These include lecture and practical delivery, round table discussions with visiting lecturers, tutorials and small group projects. In order to maximise the experience there is the expectancy for students to engage with curriculum and self-directed study, in addition to tasks and demands of work experience and the internship environments. Support is provided by a personal tutor offering pastoral support, and through the University's Virtual Learning Environment and extensive library resources and academic support.Ê
Career prospects:
Graduates of the programme can continue their studies and register for a research degree (MPhil/PhD) in a related subject. Other graduates will pursue careers as professional strength and conditioning coaches working for the Home Country Sports Institutes, professional sports teams and National Governing Bodies, technical coaches, work within the health and fitness industry, act as consultants and lecture (further and higher education).
