The four-year MChem degree builds on the three-year BSc Chemistry, offering greater depth in the major topic areas.
The distinctive feature of the MChem is a substantial research project embedded in a research group that interacts with the wider research environment and has the potential to result in publishable work.
The program has a flexibly structured degree path means students have the opportunity to study abroad for a year or work in the industry for a year, either locally, nationally, or overseas.
Students will be taught through a combination of lectures, tutorials, seminars, and discussion groups, supported by practical classes.
The core modules will be aligned with our current pioneering research in the fields of natural products, materials engineering, and medicine.

Academic Eligibility:

The typical entry requirement is a degree in any background, normally a 2:2 with a minimum of 55% overall.
Applicants should have an AAB-ABB grade, including Chemistry and one other Science or Maths subject
Applicants who are non-native English speakers must achieve 6.5 overall in IELTS or equivalent
Students should have a minimum of grade C in English and grade B in Maths.

Indian Eligibility:

Candidates are expected to have achieved 70% Year XII including Standard XII in English - 70% or above (or equivalent).

Applicants from non-European countries who seek an international degree at Swansea University require a student visa. Once the student is accepted by the university, he /she should apply for a ‘short-term study visa (for a duration of fewer than 6 months)’ or ‘Tier-4 (General) student visa’.
The application needs to be made through the UK Embassy or UK High Commission at their place of permanent residence. One must apply for a visa 3 months prior to the commencement of the course.
