• Economic history is concerned with the economic change in the past. It uses concepts and theories from across the social sciences to study the development of real economies and understand them in their social, political, and cultural contexts.
  • This program combines the two complementary fields of economic history and economics in a joint honours programme, with around half of the programme in economic history, and a half in economics. It will appeal if you want training in the application of economic theory and quantitative methods to real problems.
  • Students will examine important global issues such as the economic and social effects of wars, the importance of education and human capital in economic change, and the history of economic development in the third world.
