Why study this course with us?
  • During the French and German course at the University of Chester, you will have the opportunity to undertake a short placement at the end of Year 2 (Level 5). Most students also spend an academic year in a French-speaking country. This allows you to split your experience of residence abroad, offering you the chance to spend time on different types of placement and in different countries.
  • In your first year you will have the opportunity to study a further language from scratch.
  • German at Chester provides a structured framework within which you move towards increasing independence.
  • Introductory modules and modules in distinct thematic areas introduce you to theoretical concepts, and assessments help you to apply these concepts in increasingly challenging ways. Subsequent modules will deepen your understanding and you will undertake independent projects with the scope to pursue your own interests in the subject area.
  • You have an opportunity to undertake a placement at the end of Year 2 (Level 5). Depending on factors within your mode of study, you may also have the opportunity to complete an academic year in either Germany, Austria or Switzerland.Ê
