The International Student Support Team offers help and advice to international students coming to study at CU Coventry. If students need sponsorship to travel to study in the UK, students will need to apply for a Student visa. They can apply for their Student visa within 6 months of their intended course start date. In order to be granted a Student visa, students must pass a points-based assessment and score 70 points. Students usually get a decision on their visa within 3 weeks.
The type of permission students require depends on the type, of course, they are coming to study:
- If students are coming for a course or period of study that is for less than six months, students may be able to come as a short-term student.
- If students are coming to study a course that is longer than 6 months, a student visa is issued for study.
The different types of visa are:
- Short-Term Study Visa: If students are coming to the UK to study a course for less than 6 months and do not intend to extend their study in the UK then they should apply for a Short-Term Study Visa.
- Tier 4 student visa (Child student Visa) – Students can apply for a Child Student visa if they are between 4 and 17 years old and they want to study at an independent school in the UK.
