• M.Phil in Engineering at the University of Cambridge is offered on a full-time basis for a duration of 12-months.
  • It is an on-campus program also offered on a part-time basis for a duration of 24 months.
  • The MPhil is offered by the Department of Engineering as a full-time one-year course of the research, introducing students to research skills and specialist knowledge.
  • Students wishing to apply for the PhD are expected to pass the MPhil and to satisfy their examiners that they are capable of continuation.
  • Students will spend most of their time on research for their thesis.
  • Students take two masters-level lecture courses and participate in a regular seminar which will equip them with vital research and communication skills.
  • During the research work, students will have to attend at least 8 one-to-one meetings with their supervisors.
  • Students have to attend the classes and seminars of 8 hours per term and lectures of 32 hours per year. 
  • The outcome of the MPhil program is determined through an examination of a 15,000-word thesis.
  • The examination includes an oral examination of the thesis and the general field of knowledge.
