• Cambridge is an unparalleled place to undertake a PhD in medieval literature and culture. The medieval manuscript and book holdings of the University and Colleges are outstanding, and the Faculty includes a lively community of scholars of the material text and digital culture.
  • Former medievalists include the scholars W.W. Skeat and C.S. Lewis; current medievalists in the Faculty, many of whom are recent appointments, have a diverse research expertise. This enables us to nurture research in many different areas, using a variety of critical, theoretical and interdisciplinary practices. We have a keen and energetic community of postgraduate students and everyone works hard to foster dialogue and a sense of intellectual community.
