There are two ways in which you can enter bsc(hons) agriculture in bhu.. One which I took is cuet, you have to give examination in three subjects of any of these- physics, chemistry, biology, maths I gave it in pcb. The cutoff marks were 474 for general category in 2023. The second one is through icar mode.
In agriculture there is a lot to study and I think every subject that we study is of great importance be it principles of genetics or be it economics... Definitely they have made this course very much productive in terms of placement and also in terms of higher studies if you wanna do MSc these will help you a lot there..
There is a fair called the kisan mela held every year for the students of agricultural science, they have to visit other agricultural colleges which comes under icar to showcase their projects and sell them in the kisan mela to different institutes
Placement are good but generally students prefer higher studies after bsc because the curriculum of bhu bsc agriculture is such that you develop intrest in research rather than just being job oriented. But If you want to go for placements there also are many opportunities including the dedicated placement cell that helps you conquer in every situation.. The avg placement in bhu is around 4-5 lacs and 100% students get placed that sit for placements.
One need to pay for the registration fee of cuet that depends on the subject combination you choose. Secondly comes the registration fee for admission that is 500 rupees for gen/ews/obc and 250 for sc/St/PWD students If you get selected then you have to pay a one time 10000 rupees for your admission that would be considered as your first semester fee as well, from the second semester onwards you are required to pay a fee of 5000 rupees per semester and after including hostel fee is comes to be around 25k The mess charges are 3000 per month for vegetarian and 4000 per month for non vegetarian...
There is a special cultural fest for the agricultural students known as spandan help once every year in the hostel for agricultural students that is srk hostel. This fest includes many activities including speech, dance , singing.. The fest also sponsers many companies.
The hostel facilities are average you get a two seater room. You get hostel only if you have good marks in cuet and your home is far from bhu campus But If you come through icar mode your seat in hostel is confirmed also the mess quality is good enough considering it as a mess and not as home
Each and every faculty are atleast PhD and some are post doc too.. Every faculty has done specialisation in their respective fields and they help each and every student and don't discriminate them at all.
