It depends on what it is that you want as both are different subjects. It depends on your preference. According to my cousin who studied CSE at MNIT, if you want a challenging job and you are aiming for PSUs, then mechanical engineering may be good. But the placements of mechanical even in top colleges like IITs will be lower than their CSE counterparts.

Mechanical engineering is going to be tougher even at IITs to secure a job. However, with some struggle, hard work, and years of experience, you may land a PSU job. However, CSE is not easy but getting an initial start to your career is easier in this branch with a good starting salary.
Pick the one which suits you better according to your career choice and the career progression you want after some years.
