IIIT Allahabad offers an enviable campus life. On weekdays there will be classes from 9.00 AM to 6 PM. The institute has a strict attendance rule. Students need to maintain at least 80% attendance. You will have theory and lab classes. After 6 pm, many students play cricket, football, or hang out. Some also study. You will meet all kinds of people in the hostel. Some people play video games with friends at night, some study, and some students play loud music until the guard asks them to turn the volume down.
Weekends are usually boring compared to weekdays. Students usually go out or play sports. Many students also use the weekends to finish their assignments and coursework.
The new campus of IIIT Allahabad has been developed in the 100 acres of land on the outskirts of Allahabad i.e. at Devghat, Jhalwa. Allahabad city is well-connected by air, rail, and roads to the nearest metro station. The overall structure of the buildings aims to establish design conventions. While designing the campus, one thing is kept in mind that instead of geometrical lines, patterns of internationally acclaimed scholars and mathematicians are used. The campus is equipped with all the facilities with regard to the students as well as resident faculties. A few of the notable facilities include the following.
Hostels: There are a total of 3 girl’s hostels and 4 boy’s hostels. A 5th boy’s hostel is being constructed on the campus to accommodate more students. Most of the rooms are triple sharing. You will be provided with 3 beds, tables, chairs, and 2 Almirahs in a single room. Same amenities will be provided in the double sharing room as well.
Night Canteen: Boys hostel has a night canteen that is open from around 8:00 PM to 3:00 AM. The canteen can be accessed by everyone from other boy’s hostels as well.
Student’s Activity Centre (SAC): There are eight official clubs in the institute and they have their own separate rooms which are located in the SAC. All the planning, discussion on events and events are conducted in these SACs usually.
Gym: There are gyms in both boy’s hostel and girls’ hostel. The campus also has a playground and other sports facilities like a Basketball court, Tennis court, Swimming Pool, etc.
Auditorium: The institute also has a fully air-conditioned huge auditorium that holds major events. The capacity of the auditorium is to hold approximately 500 students.
Cafeteria: The institute has a decent cafeteria for the students where you can have food along with chit-chats with your friends. You will get a good range of food (lunch and dinner) in the cafeteria itself.
Main Buildings: The campus consists of three Computer Centers with various labs, lecture halls, a newly built auditorium, an electronic library, and a residential campus. The main institute area is connected through inner roads. The classes are conducted in the Lecture Theatre.
Academics: The pattern followed at IIIT Allahabad is slightly different than most colleges. For BTech and MTech, the institute has a CCLCAA ordinance that refers to the credit-based continuous assessment and awards ordinance.
Coding Culture: Coding culture at IIIT Allahabad is probably the most important aspect for students who choose the institute. The members of the competitive coding society and 4th-year seniors take competitive coding classes after the normal class timing.
Fests: There are a total of 4 fests, i.e. Effervescence, IIIC E-Summit, Asmita, Aparoksha.
Technical Society: There are 3 technical societies with many wings, namely Geekhaven, Tesla, Gravity. Other than technical societies there are many other societies and communities as well.
