NMIMS Mumbai is a better college for Finance, Consulting, and Marketing. It is more recognized in the industry and more a number of recruiting companies. NMIMS placements 2022 concluded with an average CTC of INR 23.07 LPA. More than 60+ Fortune 500 companies took part in the campus drive. The job roles offered at NMIMS are also better compared to IIFT K.

Located at the Financial epicenter of the country, Mumbai, the institute offers better exposure. Overall, NMIMS offers a better MBA experience.

It is a well-known fact that IIFT D is better than NMIMS. The only issue most students face during choosing is that IIFT Kolkata is not on the same level as IIFT Delhi. This is not entirely true. Given below are the reasons for the same.

IIFT Delhi - IIFT Kolkata:

  • IIFT Kolkata is part of IIFT Delhi. Both of the campuses are administered by the Delhi campus.
  • The placement and ranking reports for both campuses are combined. In fact, in the NIRF ranking data, you will find the combined placement information of both campuses. As per the reports, the average placement package for IIFT is 19+LPA.
  • The value of the degree of IIFT Kolkata and Delhi is the same.
  • Cut off of the IIFT exam for both the campuses is the same. However, the final allocation of seats on the campus depends on the merit and your performance in GD and PI.
  • The marks difference of the last students who took admission in Kolkata campus from that of Delhi campus post-GD and PI was 1.71 marks. Therefore, it is assumed that the qualities of both the Kolkata and Delhi campuses are the same.

IIFT Kolkata vs NMIMS:(Winning Institution - IIFT Kolkata)

  • As per the placement report 2020, the highest domestic package was INR 46,45,000 at the IIFT Kolkata campus. At SBM, NMIMS Mumbai, the highest domestic package of INR 38.57 LPA.
  • At IIFT Kolkata and Delhi campus, there are many top companies that come to recruit candidates every year.
  • The total placement numbers are also lower at NMIMS as compared to IIFT Kolkata and Delhi.

Overall, IIFT Kolkata is better than NMIMS. In the past, there were differences between the IIFT Delhi and Kolkata campuses, which is resolved now. And there are hardly any differences between the two campuses.

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and Narsee Monjee Institute of Management studies both are leading institutes in the field of management and known for offering a great range of exposure to its students.

NMIMS enjoys the status of deemed to be university while IIFT Kolkata was incepted more recently with a view to providing more insight into international business. The major details about the courses are as follows.

Ranking:

The rankings of both the institutions are by far good but the certain important facts to be focussed upon are as follows.

  • IIFT is ranked as 2nd in terms of its pedagogical structure. It holds a dynamic reputation with respect to its specialization.

  • NMIMS is a category 1 university according to MHRD. It has more than 17000 students and above 750 faculty members.

Academics:

The courses offered by both colleges are somehow unique in nature and content.

  • IIFT has a specialization of providing post-graduation courses in the field of International Business.

  • It also offers certifications and Executive programs in the same specialization.

  • NMIMS being a deemed university offers all courses ranging from engineering, management, medical, law, architecture, science, commerce, arts, and design.

  • Both undergraduate and postgraduate courses are offered by the university. It also offers an integrated BBA + MBA program.

Fee Structure & Scholarships:

  • IIFT offers courses within a feasible range; except the executive one which costs around Rs. 90 Lakhs.

  • All the certifications courses cost between Rs. 75000 to Rs. 1 Lakh.

  • NMIMS courses are affordable. The MBA course is offered at Rs. 6.26 Lakhs while other courses also fall in the same range.

Placements:

The placement scenario can be well understood by looking at the comparative statistics given below.

Category

IIFT Kolkata

NMIMS

Average Package

Rs. 20.07 LPA

Rs. 17.58 LPA

No. of Recruiters

166

Highest Package

The infrastructural facilities at both the institutes are best. NMIMS can surely be the first choice due to its fee range, large campuses, and university structure. It provides the needed exposure although undoubtedly IIFT is a domain-specific college offering best in a single field.
