What is the difference in grading system at IIT Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur?
Posted On - Mar 21, 2023All the 3 IITs, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi, follow the relative grading. Under this, your grades are calculated after your GPA is generated with respect to the highest scorer's marks. This system is quite similar to that in the US except that the parameters considered while calculating grades are way different.
Grades are calculated by giving weightage to such parameters
- Tests
- Assignments
- Projects
- Quizzes
- Group projects
- Class participation
IIT B and IIT D grading system looks like this

Contrastingly, AP in IIT Bombay means excellent performance where AP in IIT Kanpur means Academic Probation. But still, I think IIT Kanpur is good to go with.
