I am a student at AIIMS Raipur, so I will try sharing some advantages of joining my institution.

I wouldn’t recommend AIIMS Rishikesh over Patna or Raipur. The only favorable thing in regard to AIIMS Rishikesh is that it is located in the lap of nature. But over the years, its hype has somewhat died down partially because of constant issues with the administration. Also, the other AIIMS have seen an increase in their PG seats. AIIMS Patna and Raipur have excelled in other areas, and made up for their lack in terms of location.

The main hospital building of AIIMS Raipur was recently completed, and all the major departments have been shifted in the same. The faculty at AIIMS Raipur is as good as any other AIIMS, and academic excellence is given utmost priority. The attendance system is a bit strict, but it is totally up to the AIIMS standards.

The Trauma and Emergency is top notch at AIIMS Rishikesh, but that is of less importance for an MBBS student. The patient load has increased at AIIMS Raipur over the years. The students of AIIMS Raipur can join various cultural, literary and sports clubs. This helps in overall development and extracurricular achievement.

Thus, I would recommend AIIMS Raipur as a good institution for an MBBS, but even AIIMS Patna is a good choice.

Given the current situation, leaving AIIMS Patna for AIIMS Rishikesh or Raipur is not a smart decision. The following are the reasons:

1. Among all AIIMS, AIIMS Patna has the highest patient input (second only to AIIMS Delhi), and in medical studies, patients are your best teacher.

2. The AIIMS Patna PG entrance result is excellent, with several single-digit rankers in various entrance exams.

3. Dams (coaching for PG) has a center in Patna, so you can easily prepare for PG from here.

4. The campus is the largest of all the AIIMS, with numerous fields for casual play and hanging out.

5. A 1000-bed ward, various OTs, and a large library are just a few of the amenities available.

You should choose the AIIMS closest to your home because with the minimal vacations provided to students, you will have frequent cravings to visit home yet keeping in mind that you cannot take much leave.

Anisha Kar,

No, it probably wouldn't be the right decision to leave AIIMS Patna for AIIMS Rishikesh or Raipur. AIIMS Patna is considered the best one after Delhi and Bhubaneswar.

Here are some of the reasons why it would be a better choice.

  • High patient inflow, around 3000 OPD patients per day. Without seeing patients you will not be able to study the clinical subjects.
  • There is the availability of single rooms.
  • There is a free WiFi facility in both hostel and college.
  • A 42 inch TV with an HD channel subscription is also available in Hostel.
  • A well-equipped gym is provided in the college building.
  • The library in AIIMS Patna has the most number of books in comparison to all peripheral AIIMS.
  • You can borrow one book for a week using a library card. The reading room is open 24x7.
  • The faculties are good and it will be like that in almost every AIIMS.

It is a very safe and comfortable place for living. There is proper security on campus including hostels. Leaving AIIMS Patna would be a big mistake.
