Government colleges in India are preferred by students because of their reputation and how easy it is on the pocket as compared to private colleges for engineering. The fee structure at GEC Manipuri for BTech programs rounds off to 1.05 lakh whereas the same course at NIET will cost somewhere between 1.85 to 3.5 lakhs.

Apart from that, NIET is known to offer funding and scholarships to students in order to help them with their tuition fees. It also facilitates summer internships for the top 3 students with an outstanding academic record. GEC Mainpuri on the other hand does not offer any grants or scholarships and students are required to pay their full tuition amount.

Let us have a look at the facilities provided by both the colleges:

  • Infrastructure: Being a private institution with higher funding, NIET’s have better infrastructure and more updated campus facilities like smart classrooms, a well-structured library, Wi-Fi accessed campus, and hostels. GEC Mainpuri has a large campus but lack in technological facilities like providing well-equipped practical labs or library services to students.
  • Placements: NIET observes a higher placement rate of 75% as compared to GEC Mainpuri. It also offers recruitments by top core companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Infosys, and IBM to students who are eligible for placements. GEC Mainpuri being a relatively smaller government college does not oversee placements from any core companies and mostly observes placements from IT and software development companies.
  • Courses: NIET offers a wider range of popular engineering courses as compared to GEC Mainpuri. It offers a total of nearly 30 programs across graduate and undergraduate degrees whereas GEC offers a total of nearly 12 programs within the engineering stream.
  • Location: NIET students are well connected to metropolitan life and are free to experience student life on and off-campus. The GEC Mainpuri campus is in a comparatively remote location which is not very well-connected to the city life.

Both the colleges offer a detailed and well-structured program in terms of the curriculum but differ in their teaching approach, campus facilities, placements, student demographics, and rankings. Keeping the above-given factors in mind, students can make their choice based on their requirements and preferences.
