How are the BITS GOA chemical placements?

BITS Goa placements are good for Chemical Engineering. During recent placement drive, students of Chemical received the highest CTC of around INR 25 LPA. While the lowest CTC offered was INR 10 LPA. The placement average for the branch is around 99%. Schlumberger, ExxonMobil, Reliance, Shell, etc. were some of the major recruiters that take part in the placement drive.
You will definitely get various opportunities at BITS Pilani Goa campus in the chemical engineering branch. You can either go for core chemical jobs or venture outside and find jobs other than chemical jobs.
Chemical Jobs -
- Opportunities are very few in this field. A very limited number of companies visit the campus to exclusively hire chemical engineers.
- Vedanta comes occasionally but offers a very low package (INR 4 lakhs per annum in 2012).
- A company called International Safety Systems (ISS) came which took some students.
- Companies like Schlumberger, Exxon Mobil, Cipla, etc. visit BITS Pilani but not the Goa campus. Many students who want a chemical job either find themselves off-campus or go for higher studies.
Non-Chemical Jobs -
- There are many companies who come here but do not have any branch preference.
- These include banks, analytics, technology companies, etc. Some of these companies are JPMIB, Thorogood, Wells Fargo, ZS, Futures First, TCS Analytics, Groupon, etc. Of course, there may be some CGPA criteria.
Overall I would say that opportunities are present especially in the non-chemical sector.
