Does IIM Ahmedabad still have the policy to call all 100 percentilers in CAT for an interview? What are the other necessary conditions?

Yes, IIM Ahmedabad still has the policy to call all 100 percentilers in CAT for an interview. Most 100 percentilers get a call from IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta, because of IIM Ahmedabad’s clause of taking the top 50 candidates, and IIM Calcutta’s extraordinary weightage to the CAT percentile for shortlisting. Other necessary conditions include

  • Students must have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA.
  • The bachelor's degree must entail a minimum of three years of education along with 10+2 or equivalent.
  • The conversion of marks or CGPA will be followed as per the norms of the university/institute from which the student has graduated.

Apart from this, your 10th and 12th scores, work experience, and gender diversity are also taken into consideration.

In 2021, the required cutoff for IIM Ahmedabad was 99-100. But just scoring 100 percentile in CAT, won’t get you an interview call. You must satisfy the eligibility criteria in terms of 10th, 12th, Graduation marks, and CAT percentile. The shortlist for an interview is made by considering past academic performance and CAT percentile. So, if your past academic record is poor, you may not get a call for an interview, even with a 100 percentile.

Yes, IIM Ahmedabad still has the policy to call all 100 percentiles in CAT for an interview. Some years back, this policy was only for the top 50 students from different streams who were called to IIM Ahmedabad for the interview. Now, the limit of the top 50 is increased to the top 100.

Although it's good as it offers the different students from all the streams to join the campus and it increases the diversity in the campus. In the past, due to the top 50 trend, women's representation in the campus rose from 10% to 33%, and for the non-engineers, it went from 3% to 15%.

It is a good policy as in this way you will get in touch with people from all the different streams and learn from them.
