What are some interesting behind-the-scenes stories about IIM Bangalore placements?
Posted On - Jul 27, 2021Here are a few interesting behind-the-scenes stories about IIM Bangalore placements that I came across from interaction with my friend who is an alumnus of IIT Bangalore.
The initial 2 days witness the heaviest crowds as the maximum number of students are placed in very little time. The students end up giving consecutive interviews until they are selected. As a result, students sometimes have no idea about what they are interviewing and just appear for the sake of it. In a very hilarious incident, a student started praising Ola in an Uber interview.
The GD day is even more hectic as students can sometimes be seen attending GDs from the morning till midnight. In these GDs, you will find people of all kinds. While some will rarely speak, some can be seen shouting and dominating others in the groups. You will see tired bodies moving around and some even crying because of poor performance.
The placement process is completely handled by students under teams called trackers. You will spot groups of trackers huddled together and discussing important issues.
There are many interesting behind-the-scenes stories about IIM Bangalore that you will get to know, once you attend the institute. You will hear all kinds of stories from students praising opponent companies during interviews to asking funny questions to interviewers. I remember one of my friends shared that he got his Pre-placement offer, post the final round of placement.
One of my friends graduated from IIM Bangalore. He shared some of the interesting stories of the placements with me. Here are a few of them.
- Placements at IIMB are jam-packed into 2 days. The placement cell tries to get all students placed in as little time as possible. In the process, students give interviews one after the other until they are selected by a company. Many times it happens that people have no idea what interview they are going into. I know one crazy story where the candidate going into an Ola interview talks and praises Uber.
- The GD day conducted by the companies is an altogether different experience. You might end up attending 15 GDs from morning to midnight. And while attending these GDs you will find all sorts of characters. Some will never be able to say a single word while some will shout and try to dominate others. You see people walking around tired. You see people break down as well.
- The whole process is managed by students. A part of this team is called trackers. One funny incident was when 5 to 6 trackers huddled together outside a room trying to seem all busy and acting as if they were discussing something serious. It is odd since usually one of them is at a place let alone 6 together. They were actually interested in the hot HR from one of the recruiting companies.
