New Delhi: Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi, and World Vision India (WV India), Ranchi have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for one year for the community engagement of students of 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimesters at 10 community slums in Ranchi through the Rural Management Programme.
People present during the signing of MoU include Dr Joseph Marianus Kujur SJ, Director, XISS, Ranchi and Ms Shilpi Munda, Programme Officer, WV India, Area Programme Ranchi Urban;
Dr Himadri Sinha, Professor & Head, Rural Management Programme, XISS; Dr Sanjay Verma, Assistant Project Coordinator, XISS and Ms Rekha Purnima Khalko, Senior Manager Programme, Monitoring, WV India were also present.

XISS and WV India Collaboration: Resources for Community Engagement
World Vision India would be providing IEC materials/Teaching aids to students during the course of their engagement with the community and children. Cordial relationships should be maintained with the communities, volunteers and children during fieldwork.
XISS will make the logistical arrangements for pre-school children which would be the primary area of intervention under the Area Programme. XISS will also sign the policy for child protection.
XISS and WV India Collaboration: Student Benefit
Dr Kujur, Director XISS, stated that partnership with WV India would increase the participation of students for UFW under the purview of their course curriculum.
He further asserted that the collaboration would foster interaction with organizations for community welfare, orientation on child protection, advocacy and others in terms of student benefits.
He also added that the association would facilitate students to develop practical knowledge and the necessary skills.
XISS and WV India Collaboration: Aim
Dr Himadri Sinha, Professor & Head, Rural Management Programme, XISS, stated that the aim of the MoU is to train students to gain competence for slum development being a part of the course curriculum.
Students will work in 10 sums of Ranchi and the work experience will be valuable in terms of profession. Baseline and Inline surveys will be taught along with the techniques of implementation.
Ms Rekha Purnima Khalko, Senior Manager Programme, Monitoring, WV India stated that associating with XISS for UFW would be quite helpful in terms of community engagement of students for slum development.
