Sampurnanand Sanskrit University (SSU), Varanasi has officially notified that the university will commence a two-year postgraduate course in Hindu Studies from the current academic session 2021-22. 

According to the reports, the Sampurnanand Sanskrit University (SSU), Varanasi will become the first university across India to introduce a 2-year postgraduate course in Hindu studies. The Vice-Chancellor of SSU, Professor Hareram Tripathi said that the syllabus for the MA Hindu Studies has been finalised. 

He added that the postgraduate course in Hindu Studies has been prepared by the experts including senior professors from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (IIT-K), among others.

Even, the Chairman Professor DP Singh, University Grants Commission (UGC) had given a verbal approval to the postgraduate course in Hindu studies that comprises topics like Vedanta, Indian Philosophy, Vedas, Shastrarth (debate on Hindu values), Gyan Mimansa (examination of knowledge), the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, Hindu Arts and language, said Tripathi. 

Interested students who have completed their graduation are eligible to apply for the postgraduate course in Hindu Studies. Also, it was notified that a new department for the aforesaid course will be established soon in the SSU campus.

As per the reports, recently, a webinar was organized under the chairmanship of UGC chairman, Professor DP Singh, in order to implement the two-year postgraduate course, MA in Hindu Studies. In addition, it was notified that Banaras Hindu University (BHU) also has a plan to begin a similar course.
