New Delhi: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister A. Suresh has laid the foundation stone for infrastructure development in the Phase-III of SRM University, Andhra Pradesh.
Initially, two academic blocks, an administrative block, a research building, dining areas, an auditorium and six hostel buildings were constructed, which are entirely running at SRM University, AP.
Speaking on the occasion, P Sathyanarayanan, President, SRM-AP, said that the new infrastructure was being established in an area of 10,000sft.
He said that It is due to the faculty, students, and the opportunities that make a university, not bricks and mortar. The university has a proven track record of achievers in research, entrepreneurship, placement, and higher studies.
The minister expressed his delight on laying the foundation stone to the Phase III development on the auspicious day of ‘Guru Purnima’.
Meanwhile, the varsity will be introducing a plethora of facilities for students including research, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the new phase.
According to the statement by T.R. Paarivendhar, founder chancellor of the SRM Group of Educational Institutions, the new projects would provide an impetus to the modern education ecosystem in the state.
He said that the new phase will witness the centres of excellence in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data and Analytics, Sustainability, and other futuristic fields of research and innovation and state of the art classrooms.
Highlighting the gamut of opportunities at SRM-AP, Pro Vice-Chancellor D Narayana Rao appreciated the contributions of the SRM group of institutions, in bridging the gap between the haves and have-nots.
Vice-Chancellor V.S. Rao said that the SRM-AP was set up with a global vision of offering high-quality education and international exposure to the youth of the state. The university offers a gamut of UG, PG and Ph.D. courses in various disciplines and admissions are primarily based on the scores obtained in the entrance examination.
Further, the minister also distributed the certificates and president's scholarship upto INR 4 lakhs to the students of 2022 batch, who began their successful entrepreneurial ventures, secured study abroad opportunities in top global universities, and obtained marquee placement offers during the foundation laying occasion.
Apart from Vice-Chancellor Prof VS Rao, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof D Narayana Rao, some of the notable dignitaries present at the foundation laying ceremony were APSCHE Chairman Hemachandra Reddy, University Registrar Dr R Prem Kumar, amongst others.
