Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Pune tendered an apology for unintentionally using inapt words in the final year online examination. The university held the final year examination through online means on October 27, 2020.
During Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Final Year Exam 2020, inappropriate questions on ‘Jihad’ terror were included in both the online papers of BA and BCom final year examination.
The exam included multiple-choice questions formed from the Defense Committee subject. SPPU Vice-Chancellor Nitin Karmalkar unequivocally apologized, on behalf of the varsity.
Referring to ‘Jihad’ terror questions in the exam, Vice-Chancellor Nitin Karmalka said, “The question is unacceptable to the University, although it is confined to only one course at one college.”
Mr. Nitin added that the mistake happened due to the lack of supervision of the question-paper setters, which is unacceptable. The university has also sent a show-cause notice to the head of the committee.

SPPU Final Year Exam 2020: Inaccuracies in Final Year Questions
Students alleged inaccuracies in the SPPU MA geography examination held on October 27, 2020. To which SPPU officials stated that they would first check the accuracy of the claims made by the students.
The question paper was planned and executed by 1 chairman and a minimum of 2 expert teachers at SPPU.
Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) final year exam question stated, “Which one of the following is the main cause of Jihadi terrorism?” having the choices "Globalisation, Spread of Communism, Armament Proliferation, Use of violence in the name of Islamic radicalism".
A student of BA Political Science, Hashim Ansari also claimed that a near politically incorrect question was included in the Modern History exam. Similar incorrect questions were circulated on social media.
One of the senior officials at SPPU justified that the varsity has found only one incorrect question from their question back. The allegations for the remaining questions are inappropriate.
The officials claimed to file a police complaint against the culprit for spreading such rumors on social media for nefarious purposes.
