UGC Requests Universities to Facilitate for the CUET UG 2023 Entrance Test

New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) and the University Grants Commission (UGC) have requested support from all the educational institutions which are taking part in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET 2023) for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

According to a letter from Secretary UGC to the vice chancellors of all universities, Professor Manish Joshi, the commission may be required to use partner institutions' resources and facilities during the CUET 2023 exam period.

The UGC stated that all educational partners/ institutes/ colleges/ universities are required to provide assistance to UGC and NTA in this National Duty. The commission may require the universities and institutes to utilise their facilities during the exam period.

CUET 2023 From May 21

This year, the CUET 2023 will take place between May 21 and May 31, 2023, whereas June 1 to June 7 are reserved days. The entrance exam will be held online as a computer-based test (CBT) for admission to 206 universities, including 44 central universities and 33 state universities.

These universities include Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Dr. B R Ambedkar School of Economics in Karnataka, Cluster University of Jammu, Cotton University in Guwahati, Assam, and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.

The CUET UG has become the second-largest entrance exam all over the country, surpassing the JEE Mains average registration of nine lakhs, with more than 14.9 lakh registrations recorded last year.

However, the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) stated that it wants CUET to remain an option for colleges and universities across the nation for admission to undergraduate courses.

As per the AIU Secretary General Pankaj Mittal, the CUET has not yet been made mandatory, and AIU believes that it should stay optional for universities or colleges that want to adopt the new system.
