New Delhi: Delhi University has warned St Stephen’s College from giving 15% weightage to interview for UG Admission 2022. If the college refuses to follow DU Admission 2022 guidelines, then admission to St Stephen’s College though DU will be made "null and void".

UG Admission 2022: DU Against St Stephen’s Decision to Give 15% Weightage to Interview

Earlier, Delhi University has announced that it will adopt Common University Entrance Test, CUET as the main criteria for admission to its Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs. With this, all affiliated colleges of DU were directed to give complete weightage to CUET 2022.

Despite the guidelines released for DU Admission 2022, an affiliated college, St Stephen’s College has issued its separate admission criteria for its admission process. As per the criteria, the college will give a 15% weightage interview round.

As per the prospectus released for St Stephen’s Admission 2022, the college has announced that it will offer admission seats to all general and unreserved category students on the basis of an 85:15 ratio, where 85% weightage would be given to the CUET Entrance Exam.

Due to this, Delhi University has issued a warning to St Stephen's College regarding the CUET weightage in admission criteria. The university informed that if the college fails to follow admission guidelines, admission to St Stephen's College will be considered null.

ST Stephen’s College Admission Policy 2022: 85% Weightage to CUET

DU and St Stephen College have earlier tussled over the issue of admission criteria for sessions 2022-23. The issue began when the college refused to abide by the admission guidelines released for affiliated colleges for undergraduate program admission.

Earlier in May 2022, Delhi University issued a letter to its affiliated minority colleges asking to offer admission entirely on the basis of CUET Entrance Exam 2022 scores. The university directed all DU-affiliated colleges to follow the admission criteria for session 2022-23

However, St Stephens released its own guidelines and gave only 85% weightage to CUET 2022. Asking about the admission criteria, the college said that “it reserves its right to proceed with UG Admission 2022 as per its policy guaranteed to it as a minority institution”.

In the letter issued to the Principal of St Stephens College, the DU officials informed that "The University of Delhi shall not be responsible for any consequential impact on the life and career of the candidates admitted in your college in violation of the university admission policy".

"You are advised to take the necessary steps in this regard immediately and inform the university accordingly". DU further directed St Stephen’s College to abide by admission guidelines for CUET and withdraw its admission prospectus for sessions 2022-23.
