January 5, 2021: The Government of Tamil Nadu has decided to reopen the schools for students of classes 10 and 12 after Pongal to prepare themselves for upcoming board examinations. Schools in the state are directed to conduct a Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) before January 8 for parent’s consent.

Schools Education Director S Kannappan and Chief Education Officers issued a circular stating, it is crucial to resume the schools for students to conduct physical classes and prepare them for the upcoming board exams. 

The circular also suggests that the meetings in all the schools should be held on or before January 8.

The decision on reopening of schools will be taken based on the parent’s opinion and feedback. The department has also evolved a draft Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the reopening of schools.

The principals in the state have given thumbs up on the reopening of schools after Pongal. In the state, the headmistress of a school has affirmed that writing and practicing can only be done in the classrooms, not through online classes.

Some students are hesitant to ask their doubts in online classes. So, physical classes are required for the students who are going to appear in the board exams.

In the meantime, the Tamil Nadu Government is going to release the time table of TN SSLC, HSE +1 and HSE +2 for the year 2021 very soon.

The Education Minister, K A Sengottaiyan had said the board exam dates would be declared soon after clarity on CBSE and NEET 2021 dates are released by the center. With the release of CBSE Exam Dates for CBSE Class 12 and CBSE Class 10 TN will soon declare the datesheet for board exams.
