New Delhi: TISS in partnership with liquor firm Pernod Ricard India and the Collective Good Foundation will launch the country's first academic-corporate fellowship programme for the transgender community. 


 

This initiative by TISS will empower people from the transgender community to craft their professional pathways in the business sector. It will also provide sufficient training and exposure to enable the deprived community to take on managerial and higher up positions in the corporate world.

The one-year fellowship programme of TISS is divided into 2 phases. The first phase aims to develop theoretical acumen in business disciplines as well as professional abilities through six months of intense classroom instruction and project work supervised by TISS professors and mentors. 

Following that, six months of workplace immersion will be provided through internships with prominent companies and non-profits, providing multi-faceted exposure and experiential learning.

The fellowship programme of TISS is open to transgender people between the ages of 18 to 25. The first group of 20 candidates will begin in July, and admission to TISS one-year fellowship programme are open till April 30.

Shortlisted candidates will go through an online procedure, which will be followed by a group discussion and a personal interview round. Each participant will get a stipend of Rs 2,4 Lakh as well as Rs 96,000 for travel and lodging expenses during the year. 

Upon successful graduation, the students will be awarded the completion certificates from the TISS. In addition, the fellows will be guided in planning out their future aspirations, and the programme will work with Pride Circle to provide placements for them.
